SSF - to hoard gear or not to hoard gear? :)

I am a bit of a hoarder in ARPGs and in POE2 I always put away juicier items because "they may come in handy for next character". And that is true but only partially because reality is that for new characters few rare items really make the game go faster but more or less in the middle of Act 2 I don't even look at stashed gear and I use what drops and same continues for rest of campaign. I have 2 tabs of rare rings and amulets, 4 quad tabs of assorted rare gear, quite a lot of uniques and separate tabs for 2h weapons and 1h weapons and tabs for each equipment slot. And recently I realized there is no way I would break my build by using stashed pieces of equipment because resistances are creates as delicate web of dependencies between slots. And I want cap my resistances asap and never touch them again unless something really extraordinary drops (like high level body with spirit and hp and all ele resists).

So now I wonder if all that hoarding on higher levels actually makes any sense and if it's not better to either sell everything or grind it for artificer orbs and quality and regal shards. maybe leave just really awesome low level stuff for new chars and some pieces that are like perfect rolls with spirit, hp, ele.

I know it's nothing new and this dilemma exists since first ARPG came out but I wonder what people do. Especially SSF people because I don't play trade and have no intent to ever do it.

Maybe it's silly to ask but maybe I'm not the only one with such silly thoughts :)

EDIT: I have multiple chars above lvl 70 and I'm mainly playing my lvl83 totem titan so drops there are already too high to use for new characters. And I noticed I have quite a good luck with vendors so gold and crafting currency has much more value for me than having higher level items ready for new chars.

I stash way too much stuff and never use it. My most used stashed stuff is sceptres for reforging/recombinating but it never works in my favour so honestly I probably need to stop hoarding so much. Also recently started stashing more shields and body armour in hopes to recombinate but it's really just a trap to sell more stash tabs imo.

As you say, it's hard to ever break apart your gear because it breaks too many dependencies of stats/resists. But I still have way too much "maybe alternate" gear stashed in case I do need to shuffle stuff around eventually. Mostly I just want to play and end up dumping so much stuff for later because I just want to play the game and not faff around with inventory.

And this isn't even considering alts. I only attempted one other character this league so I kept stuff for that to a minimum. Vendors sell good gear for alts, so it's probably not worth keeping low stuff around unless it's a build-enabling unique. The unique tab for SSF is really good.

TLDR: Have a bunch of tabs for SSF and it's never enough, but it's probably my own fault.
