Any chance of single character at a time cosmetics not having this restriction?

I got the paladin supporter pack and noticed I can only have it equipped on one character at a time. But, you can just unequip from a character to put it on the other one you are playing. So I don't understand having this restriction at all. Same goes for pets. Portals aren't like this. Can anyone explain the logic to me? I think portrait borders are the same too.

Also, are they 100% committed to having collision with party members? You'll be focusing on a boss, get hitched on each other and someone dies lol
