Have a stack of identification scrolls in your bag.
That's useful on a constant basis, not only in trials.
You pick item up, id it, and insta throw away, if it's bad.

I have taken it a step further and also have a stack of transmutes and augmentations (and alchs, regals and exalts for maps).
If item shows potential, you do your gamble right where you are, and if it failed, throw it away without a mercy.

You might say, that you haven't space in a bag for scrolls and orbs, but in fact, they will save your space there, making sure you don't carry some unidentified armours and weapons. And relics too, during Sekhema's trial.

That's part of a game too, if you ask me.
Not only killing monsters, but managing your inventory.
