[QoL feature suggestions] Build optimization
Hey everyone. I might be sending this to the incorrect section of the forum, but I definitely hope this is the correct one.
Also, I believe not everyone will find these suggestions to be adequate, but worth trying I guess. I've been trying some creative builds previously just to find out at some point that my character is pretty much gimped, unless I would like to reset all the passives, respec my skills, gems and equip. Which, in my opinion, is enough to not bother trying. And this in particular made me abandon some characters. Now I have been thinking about some measures (soft -> radical) to combat this. 1. Death recap: It'd be cool to have more clarity on the reasons we die. Maybe the last 5 dmg sources, or all the dmg sources reaching HP in the past 10 seconds. Like "The enemy X dealt 999 damage with Poison Puddle (posion damage)". 2. Stat measuring: I believe it is possible to aggregate some data on the average DPS, survivability and clear speed for each particular class/level. It would be great if the game occasionally could inform the player their build is sub-optimal to the point they might want to make some alterations. Something like "You die 57% more often then the average 42 lvl Ranger players, consider getting more evasion/ES/armor/HP/resists". Or "Your DPS is 72% lower than the average for this class and level. It might be wise to update your gear or optimize your build". I just want to be able to assess the performance of my character and see if killing some particular boss should be that hard or if my build does not work. 3. One free build reset per character: Resetting passives, skills and gems. Sort of the second chance for characters who are obviously underperforming. You're still free to gimp your character, but at least you have an option to try some meta build instead. 4. Build focus: some buff based on what the character is focused on. I'd guess some players experiment with bleeding/poison/burn builds just to find out it just "lacks". So this buff should be designed to enhance the strengths of such builds (while possibly tuning down something else in return). 5. Stat tuning: now this one is radical and possibly balance-breaking, so if the devs are to consider it, I'd recommend thinking this through like hundred times maybe. If the character underperforms in some area, their stats might be increased to some extent. I'm not talking about making him as powerful as some meta build, but some slight alterations to such character's stats might lead to overall player base willing to try some less orthodox builds for the sake of gameplay diversity. Now I'm definitely aware of skill issue, and the best solution for my particular cases is to simply "git gud", but I'm pretty sure some new players might appreciate such assistance. Thank you for whatever feedback you folks have! Dernier bump le 22 mai 2025 à 15:51:58

You started new characters because you couldn't be bothered to spend some gold and reallocate passives and swap skill gems? That makes no sense at all lol.
Your points in order: 1. Sure, as long as it doesn't further strain already strained resources. But the answer is always only going to be: max your resists, get more life/es/ev/armor, learn enemy move sets. 2. POE Ninja. But if you're struggling to get through the campaign I just wouldn't even be thinking about any of this... 3. Please don't tell me you ran out of gold. 4. This is what an ascendancy is. 5. I have no idea what this means. There are going to be major balance changes to skills and items next update. Everyone is well aware that tangletongue is completely broken. | |
" A Death recap would be very nice. Many games have a combat log of some sort. It seems like it would be fairly easy to keep track of say the last five sources of damage and then show them to you when you die. They are already keeping track of at least the killing blow internally because they publish stats on what boss or mobs have killed the most players. Sometimes I don't know what killed me. Other times I do know what killed me but I want to see if I was even close to surviving the one shot. It would be nice to know if a little more life or defense would have made a difference or if I am just wasting time trying to get tough enough to survive something that I will never be able to survive. I would even pay a microtransaction for a death recap, even better a death log of all my character deaths, that would be cool to browse and share.
