Couch Co-op Shared Stash

Hi guys, apologies if this has been answered.

When I play couch co-op with my son (I'm on Steam), then the shared stash chest is inaccessible, and the gold we collect seem to be from only that session (like we start with zero gold).

Is it me or by design?
