37% experience loss.

All the information I can find about official numbers is that a death should constitute a 10% loss of XP.

I've regularly seen as little as 5% as and much as 25%.

Today, in a chaos trial, a glitch happened while putting a stone in the pillar resulting in my character rubber banding 3+ meters away, then back, and the animation starting over. The enemies on screen continued and successfully ran me down while I was unable to defend myself in those critical seconds.

I was hit with a whopping 36-37%. That's 7 bars of toward my next level (77). Does anyone have a link to what mechanics are in play that actually determine XP loss? Do different activities add multipliers to the potential loss beyond the base of 10%? Does gear worn actively change some hidden state debuff of XP loss?

I'm genuinely confused and frustrated with this.

You sure about that? They seem to share a forum and website. It does assist i posted under "Early Access Discussion". That's seems like a poe2 thing to me.
