Acolyte of Chayula: Into the Breach not working with consuming questions

Into the Breach states that the blue flames leech mana to you.
Consuming questions states that mana leech applies to Es.
When I pick up a blue flame, my es does not increase.
Perhaps I am misunderstanding something, but this seems like an intended synergy. Also, it's only somewhat relevant, but I'm noticing a 2-ish-second delay between picking up a flame and the effect activating.Edit: the delay is caused by interlude support I'm kinda dumb. but I still don't know why the leech isn't working.
