Why are so many OG devs leaving?

The complete sellout to tencent, then so many of the og's leaving.
Add on top that our MAIN GAME POE1 has been in maintenance mode for almost a year.
It really makes me worried whats going on behind the scenes.

I feel like this is no longer the GGG we used to love and all the original creators of the game leaving is a big warning sign.

`Spent 2 mirrors on my build, but I'm only Level 98.` LOL
`From just quick sweep of your characters, toxic rain, golems .. sure, non meta... sure.` LOL
`What are divs?`
yea please don't say "so many" without providing further detail.
Tencent has owned 90%+ for 7+ years .

This hasn't stopped Path of Exile 1 from evolving and remaining the unique, legendary game it still is today, nor has it hindered the parallel development of Path of Exile 2.

stop creating fake drama, you're not on TikTok."

You cannot make an argument for this or against this without further inquiry and investigation.
according to wiki:

In 2018, Tencent became a majority holder in GGG, acquiring 86.67% of the company's shares. Three of the co-founders hold the remaining 13.3%. Two of the co-founders also sit on the board of directors, alongside 3 appointed by Tencent in April 2018.[8] In March 2024, the remaining three co-founders sold their remaining shares to Tencent, which made the company the sole owner.

poe 1 has around 300k players each new league , then he's still alive and played
poe 2 was release on dec 2024.

idk if u wanna more " investigations " ?

You said "This hasn't stopped Path of Exile 1 from evolving and remaining the unique, legendary game it still is today" This is your opinion entirely.

The second part when you said "nor has it hindered the parallel development of Path of Exile 2." - has no basis for argument since you have no evidence that Tencent are the ones that have caused GGG to thrive or progress (or vise versa), so to speak.

Percentages and numbers mean little. That's like saying "well your child seems to have turned out just fine since they got good grades in school, so you must be a really good parent!" Again, there is little to no evidence for such a claim
I remember hearing that Tencent didn't really interfere with the development at all, but who knows.
As for people leaving, Chris Wilson left some time ago, with the most recent departure being Rory Rackham, the Lead Game Designer.

Yep. Doesn't mean this must happen all at once. For some years they can pay no attention. But then they can start interfereing. At first here. Then there. Then somewhere else. And old devs will start leaving. Same happened with Blizzard. All old stuff was leaving the company 1 by 1 year after year. This is a gradual process.
I'm going to be honest.

There is a good chance they are just want to do new things for themselves.

When PoE1 came out, most of them were not even parents at that time. Now they likely have kids and things and want to be their baseball games. Who knows?!?!

But This is just not uncommon enough in this industry to be worth speculating on tbh.
