Should the recombinator odds be increased?

Essentially just what the title says. I am curious to hear people's opinions about this.

For me personally it feels like the odds are insanely low. It's often around ~15% or less to combine two T9 affixes. It's very hard for me to grasp why these odds exist in the first place and the chance isn't just 100%. You still have to find the two items and do multiple expedition maps to get the currency. And after the recombination you still need to exalt slam the item and get 4 more good rolls before the item is even usable. So it's not like high recombinator odds would suddenly allow us to craft perfect items.

I know there are some ways to tweak the odds a little bit in your favor, by using the same bases and the same level and picking one affix that is a little bit lower, etc. etc. But it's all very tedious and seems to still only get the odds up to 50% ish (at least from personal testing).

Generally I am worried that these low odds will lead most players into not interacting with the mechanic. If the carrot is so tiny and so far away that you can barely see it most people will simply not chase it.

Maybe it's just a numbers game and they want to keep the number of items in the economy low. But to do that they could always raise the prices on recombination if they increase the odds, or just require a high currency cost to raise the odds. It would still feel better.

But maybe I am overlooking something here. Maybe people prefer these low odds, or my argument is somehow flawed and I don't see it. Really interested to hear arguments from both sides about this.

You are not overlooking something. It's literally pure gambling.

It can happen, depending on the mods, that you want to combine two mods, and it shows a 1% chance... that's insane.

Not considering "lucky" and "unlucky", you end up with:

1) 1% combination chance in 10 attempts: 9.5% success
2) 1% combination chance in 100 attempts: 63.3% success
That alone is bonkers. Keep in mind, for the 63% chance, you still need 200 base items and the expedition currency.

Now, how long does it take to get to 100%?
Well, 160 attempts (320 items) are 80%, 230 attempts (460 items) are 90%, 350 (700 items) are 97%...

Sure, you can combine mods with a higher combination chance, like 15%, but it's still a slot machine.
Even with 15%, in 10 attempts the chance to succeed is just 80% without "lucky/unlucky" being factored in. So, if you are "unlucky", even the 15% chance can take you a while and many items to invest... for... two... mods.

With the current success rates I've just put the whole thing into the "why bother" bucket. Nothing in this game feels rewarding and worthwhile right now.
remember that 1. each base gives u 50% to get that base 2. each stat gets its own percentage 3.they literally made it this low so you would have to use fracturing orbs, which are incredibly rare for me tbh. should be one for each cleansed map not 1 per cleansed zone if any.

if you select an item with ES+EV with another only ES or EV, then select the stat that uses both ES + EV, you will see the success chance half automatically, since that lets you choose which base you get at the end (the one with singular stat cant be chosen if u select dual stat)

Feels like this whole system is just a social experiment
I think recombinator is just bad right now.

Like if the low odds were because I picked 6 BIS affixes, then I could understand. However the low odds are for 2 mid tier affixes.

I can only assume it was made for people who just like to gamble and grind.
it is because u need to use fracturing orb, if u fracture a GOOD stat and get mostly other bad stats, then u choose one very low roll with a perfect roll in the other item, then you get 50% chance to get the GOOD fracture added for free without lowering your chances.

basically, the most dumb and convoluted system to have ever been created
