Despair failed to cast but taking mana

My Despair curse won't spawn 50% of the time, but still consumes mana. This is most likely bugging because its radius is too big and at the moment you can't cast it in narrow spaces.

However, this is very annoying for builds that work around curses. The area should not affect this at all and a failed cast should definitely not consume mana.
