Didnt get Ascendancy points for chaos trial

I completed and touched the greyed out totem and I didn't get the 4th set of points. I got a cowardly fate at the end of the 10 trials. I'm trying to figure out if this is a bug or if I missed something?

For 4th ascendancy you need to collect 3 fragments and defeat the Trialmaster.
