Colossus unhittable

The colossus is unhittable for me no matter where I aim. He is not undamageable, because my thorns proc damage on him but I am unable to hit him with melee or AOE. It isn't a matter of missing, at some point, he simply becomes unhittable. I've noticed its when he transitions to 3 o clock and does his "roar"
