Crafting: steal more from LE
|
I recently picked up last epoch and I’ve played it roughly as much as I’ve played PoE 1 (maybe 30 hours). I’ve played neither nearly as much as PoE2 (~150 hours).
From these 3, I have to say that the system in LE makes way more sense as a new player. While orbs of trans/augmentation are also intuitive, they simply feel like identifying blues, not like crafting. I’m certainly no expert, but from my experience I’ll say: start stealing crafting ideas from LE (of course make them work for PoE2) and stop increasing the complexity and depth of the current gambling / identification system. LE is not the vision. only the vision will prevail when all hope is lost

I imagine they are working on ways to improve the feeling of meaningful crafting in PoE2. I like that they started with this system, which is pure RNG, it's better than starting with a system too easy because it's difficult to nerf that without outrage.
from here they can easily start to buff the crafting system and make players happy. IDK much about LE but I do know a bit about successful ARPGs - letting players feel satisfied from the beginning is not the key to long-term satisfaction. Let's be honest. The biggest problem for them right now is pretending they did something wrong with poe1. They've gone off the rails trying to innovate, trashing everything good from the identity theyve built and are telling themselves it's not that bad compared to some poe1 leagues...
what? No this is a new game do your best at launch or fail. Expecting people to just play poe1 is exactly why everyone's moving onto LE. Trash the game and start again. |
