Are getting basic atlas points too grindy??
|
I didn't finish the campaign too long ago and just got around to clearing out some corruption and it feels like things are (deliberately?) much more grindy than they need to be.
For example I understand to get basic atlas points you need to clear a T1+ corruption, then T2+, ... Instead of needing to clear out 15 or so corruptions why not give a player credit such that if their FIRST corruption clear is a Tier 4+ then why not give the points for T1-T4 with that single clear?? Last league it was basically complete 10 maps at each level ... why in the world 10 maps per level??? Why not 1 (or even 3) at each level?? To me it just feels that PoE2, in places, has chosen to make things artificially long just so they can make it long and not for a gameplay reason that I can figure out. They messed up on 1120190380183 things. So they addressed this one thankfully -
"We will be reducing the number of Nexuses needed to be completed to attain all your Atlas Passive Points and improving visibility of them into the Fog on the Atlas Map." |
|
|
I missed that .. my bad.
The funny thing is I don't have visibility to any CONNECTED zone of corruption so I have to go hunting through the fog and hope I find something. Sounds like a familiar issue from earlier in 0.1 :) |

" Yep Looking back on things, it seems like GGG were obviously disconnected from the community throughout most of 0.2.0's development. They managed to barely fix anything we gave them feedback on for months, and broke everything we loved AND didn't love. Pure insanity People are going to be very upset when you waste their time and ignore their wisdom! |

I think some of you are forgetting, or didn't know, that in the original plan for early access there was basically nothing for the endgame. They were going to do the six acts (not 3 repeated once) and that was pretty much it. At the last minute they scrapped that idea and hurried to get some stuff cobbled together for endgame. And if you played earlier you'd know it was also grindy -- complete 10 T1 waystones, then complete 10 T2, etc etc. Now at least it's encouraged to run around the atlas and find corrupted areas. They're working on releasing new stuff, balancing what they do have, and planning what they don't. Like half the classes and ascendancies aren't even in yet. It's early access, stuff is going to change.

" I would've appreciated this optimism if it was during 0.1.0, not this mess |
|
" How is what I posted optimism, it's literally what's happened. Game is changing, classes aren't implemented yet, rushed endgame so people would have something to do, everything I just said. And if you're not into grinding, the game/genre in general may not being your thing. It's also in the company name. Lastly, some, myself included, have been enjoying "this mess". Maybe try playing a game you do enjoy. | |

While everything (?) posted in this thread is likely true one pattern remains. Post campaign GGG has gone out of their way to have slow buildups (grinds) during the endgame process.
In 0.1 it was doing 150 maps (actually less if memory serves) for 30 atlas points. There was also the whole finding Citadels thing in the fog with little to no direction. In 0.2 it was finding & clearing 15 corruptions for 30 atlas points -- most of which you need to find in the fog with little to no direction. IMHO if you have a build that immediately from the campaign can easily clear T15++ maps and you clear a corruption while only doing T15+ maps then that player deserves the points as they are ready to progress further. Why the obsession with holding people back that don't need to be held back?? NOTE: This post is intended to focus on endgame but I don't think we need to mention that the campaign is also (give or take) twice as long as the PoE1 campaign -- maybe longer?? This goes even further to a pattern of behavior that seems baffling to me. |

" loved what? patch 0.1? map clearing in 10 seconds? OP builds? 500,000 partcle each skill? 0.1 was a very bad concept 0.2 is way better |

The first two Currupted Nexus' I did DID NOT spawn the boss. It spawned on the third. I cleared like 40 maps before getting TWO POINTS.
