Can't fetch drops because of phantom beetle

I just found an unique strongbox , killed the beetle and the items dropped on the floor. The problem is that I was unable to pick any of them because the game was still "showing" a beetle as present but not attacking me not showing on the screen as the battle was not finished. I also came across this. Place interacting skill (don't remember it's name, but first in second group of skills) in empty skill slot and you could interact with items lying on the ground even if mobs nearby.
