'Presence' Sucks
The range is much too short for it to be anywhere useful. It is only 4m by default.
Here is an image showcasing just how short a distance 'Presence' is. ![]() If you are playing with other players, in co-op or whatever, you're probably not gonna be occupying literally the same space as every other player nigh constantly, and if you're doing a minion build, one of the appeals is being able to literally distance yourself from combat, and from your loyal soldiers. I just think that given minion builds that rely on modifiers that require you to be within 'Presence' range, already are basically playing like any other character in the game with their own full set of skills that rely on Commands given to your minions, you probably don't need to also put the burden of extremely exacting position on these players as well just to be effective. I thought one of the goals of POE2, was to be MORE accessible, not less, but this is one of those small little details that means that if you are a new player playing a Lich or carrying a Sceptre that relies on Presence to do anything, you aren't going to understand that it only works within about hugging distance if you don't understand vague concepts about how auras work, and if you don't look it up online to know about it. The game does explain if you look at the advanced tooltips, and it even shows a helpful AOE, which is kind of nice, but I think the entire concept needs to change. I can already tell that one of the big changes in POE2 that you guys have focused on is you want to do away with the aura meta where you pick up like 7 auras that all give you various bonuses, I get that, but... Presence sucks. Dernier bump le 28 avr. 2025 à 16:12:30

Yeah and GGG for some reason nerfed it to 4m from 6m too. It's awful. It was still bad when it was 6m.
Presence radius needs a massive buff or many mechanics won't be able to ever function practically. |

I was coming on to say this very thing today. I have a Tactician because I thought it looked interesting, and I have gone to great lengths to increase my presence, but the game gives you relatively few visual indicators of how big your presence really is while you're playing...
Until you turn on Attrition. When I activated Attrition last night and saw how meager my Presence radius really was, I was astounded and thought it might be bugged. My Tactician is in the low 60s, and I have done everything I can on the Passive Tree to buff his Presence radius, but at 100% buffed presence, it's still really difficult to keep most rares (and some bosses) inside the radius of Presence for Attrition. That means it's similarly difficult to keep my allies inside that radius for the purpose of the buff that made me roll a Tactician in the first place. Is there some balance reason they dropped it to 4 meters? Six already felt really low before, but I wasn't trying to build a dude around it. I know some uniques have crazy Presence interactions, but if those uniques are causing problems, maybe they should be nerfed instead of Presence radius in general. As it stands, a low presence radius just means that a lot of my abilities rarely do anything, and that sucks. I shouldn't have to get my mitts on an Alpha's Howl just for the bulk of my abilities to become meaningful. |

" It was literally just for a few specific interactions. Everything else got destroyed in the crossfire. " This. GGG should just make presence 6-8m default and hopefully never put their deranged claws on it again. Dernière édition par LVSviral#3689, le 17 avr. 2025 à 14:47:17

The problem is that Devs think that we have some unused passive points and can solve hour problems with Presence radius. But sorry if we manage to find 3 passive points it will be just a miracle!

They want you to use it like a switch. In/out. Not like just a massive aura. Also the on off does not really work with 6 meters. Just my 5cent.

" Considering the in/out presence spear passives added to the skill tree you are probably 100% correct. Too bad that in order to enable that 1 niche the mechanic was butchered for everything else. A classic GGG case of "wouldn't it be cool if we..." without any thought whatsoever for collateral damage. Dernière édition par LVSviral#3689, le 27 avr. 2025 à 15:25:06

I picked up 3 jewels with 25% presence area and it's close to half the screen.
With double socketed boots and ox talisman, it gets another big boost so there's that if you don't want to spend passive points. I wouldn't say no for it to go back up to 6mtr by default though, the powerful stuff like deepest tower already have presence penalty built in. I guess I'm trying to say, if there's a need then there are ways to scale presence but I understand how it feels a little 'empty' to scale presence area. It's not a direct offensive or defensive stat that we normally care about. I think there's effort in making each stat somewhat relevant or worth thinking about. Like stun threshold wasn't worth thinking about before, but now it's actually useful and you might choose to have it on your gear. Dernière édition par DodgeNDive#4393, le 27 avr. 2025 à 15:34:50

But guys! they added more presence notables to the skill tree!!
oh wait... those are still just percentage buffs... which means 20% of 4m isn't even 1 meter.... hahaha |
![]() |
" It's gets even worse. Area buffs apply to the total circle area rather than the radius. So a 20% increase to AoE actually only increases the radius from 4m to roughly under a 4.4m radius. It takes about 125% increase presence AoE to bring the 4m radius back up to 6m. The skeleton warriors officially have taxation without representation.
