POE2 Physical Damage Reduction is a mess

I am not a POE1 veteran, but I played many Action RPG's and of course Diablo 2 was my favorite game from childhood.

There is a clear design flaw in this game regarding health pool physical damage reduction and evade rating.
It is unclear to me why the game is forcing you to go into extreme regarding one type of defense. You either go for evade rating, armor (physical resistance), or energy shield (health pool).

Hybrid classes that can combine the 2 are in much better place than the ones that start on pure defense type part of the skill tree, but on the other hand gear that they use are somewhat nerfed also.

Worst thing about evasion based classes that their health pool is garbage and they got one-shoted by white mobs that have some kind of unavoidable physical dmg slam. Especially fast ones like Forgotten Stalkers and the Black Vaals with big maces. The problem is that mobs like this are spawned in hordes and all go start slamming their skills on you at the same time. (Is it not batter that those attacks do same damage as regular attacks and do some kind of effect on you like knocking you back, slow you daze you or something like that, instead of just melting your HP)

With this kind of a game design players tend to go full glass cannon builds since their defenses don't matter anyway and it hurts the game big time.

In my honest opinion players need to have some kind of physical damage reduction from their armor that will make them absorb at least 50% of the physical damage. And the armor bases classes should be able to go further into 75% and more. Why does not all armor gives you some smaller amount of armor that will bring you to that 50% so you don't get one shoted with 2k hp and 10% physical reduction by a stupid white mob that you didn't managed to dodge in time.

It is a very strange design and I don't like it especially with classes like Javazon. (Btw Amazon in D2 was armored beast not some dodgy rouge like clown that get one shot by any kind of slam.)
Imagine if I had a class that cant have fire resistance bigger than 10% in this game. This is what feels like playing pure evasion char. Being almost impossible to get hit and then get oneshoted.
