Breach (and other PoE 1 Mechanics) need to go
As per title, the endgame is riddled with ported over PoE 1 mechanics, and that's the primary reason they can't nail down the combat flow.
Breach especially is a gigantic issue. It's the antithesis of what PoE 2's combat is supposed to be. PoE 2 is supposed to be about combo building, deliberate, slow fights against single packs of enemies, with the difficulty coming from the enemy pack composition. Breach is entirely about non-stop, infinity-ramping, omni-directional clusterfucks. You can never have deliberate fights while Breach (and other PoE 1 ported league mechanics) are the endgame. It needs to go and be replaced with an endgame mechanic that actually works for PoE 2's intended combat flow. Dernier bump le 3 avr. 2025 à 23:13:10

I think the exact same thing, but at this point i doubt they're going to acknowledge the inconsistency of these leagues in poe 2, that is the problem with making end game in only 6 months, a LOT of things should have been done differently back then, now it's basically too late, that's why the game is in the extremely weird spot
They want a "meaningful" combat system with combos, but they don't give you enough time to make said combos, it's either kill or be killed, fast as possible, there are too many enemies on screen, they're too fast and too deadly They want couch coop in the game but don't address the issue with having different movement speed between characters, like these 2 things don't work with each other, and many other problems like colliding with your teammate and etc Basically, ggg doesn't know what they want with poe 2 yet Dernière édition par Vyend#2601, le 3 avr. 2025 à 17:06:19

" Oh they know. They just suck at executing it as in their haste to get the early access out the door for christmas sales, they "loaned" systems and mechanics from the first game instead of, you know, building this game up as it was supposed to be, slower and more methodical, in an effort to beef up the endgame which turned out pretty awful anyways and now they are in bit of a bind cos they can't easily take out all this stuff they added that turns the game into the PoE1 mad rush smash the screen game. Then again, maybe that is exactly what the end goal is and we'll just have to ride this.. wave till we finally arrive @ 1.0 full release build and hope what we get is something we actually want continue playing. |

Doing that would break the game. It's nothing but revamped PoE mechanics.

" I think you might on to something, here. I'd personally prefer that they stop porting over PoE1 mechanics, and start making new mechanics that are made specifically for PoE2. It's not just end game mechanics like Breach, either; the trials are not only recycled from PoE1, but were problematic enough that they didn't core for ages after their leagues ended, and I'm not sure why they were reworked as essential parts of character progression. Hearing Mark say that the thing trials needed to be was more random was really disappointing. That said, they have just nerfed a bunch of the zoomy-boomy nonsense which was dominating the meta in order to bring the pace of the game more in line with what they keep saying the point of PoE2 is supposed to be, which should give them a really good idea of what works and doesn't in terms of monster mechanics and end game systems. Game design: it's an iterative process, and I think we do have to trust the process a little bit, here. I don't expect GGG to make any major changes to the player side of the game pace equation, but they didn't say anything about being unwilling to make adjustments to the monsters, or other mechanics. Stay sane, exiles!
