Slow and methodical questions.

How slow do you want the game to be?
How long do you want to fight one normal enemy?
How long do you want to fight one rare enemy?
How long do you want to fight one unique enemy?
How do you space out the enemies so that they don't swarm you?
How do you make the game not empty if you space out enemies?

If you get to the "End Game" and make a build that is good...

Will it oneshot the campaign monsters that were slow and methodical before?
What would make people go into maps if farming campaign turns out to be faster and more profitable compared to maps?

How long do you want to fight the monsters in the maps?
How long do you want to fight the monsters in juiced maps?

What about loot?

Do you still want the current loot system with slow gameplay?
Do you want to fight 5 enemies for an hour when they drop 4 items that you cant use?
What about currency in slow gameplay?
Do you want to play for 2 days to have 1 gamble chance with the current system?

How many folk will be attracted to that kind of a gameplay that requires days to even get off the ground?

Remember loud EA start, full servers, lost of preorders and new players?
It's mostly because GGG promised that POE2 won't be POE1.

So yeah, slow.

Act1 in blue gear slow.

Managing to see all boss phases, hear all lines, and listen to great soundtrack, slow.

Using a rewarding combination of skills instead of zooming with 1 click into the sea of low res particles, slow.

Some skills like Bone Shatter makes even A1 fast. Even in white gear. You kill packs of mobs literally by 2 clicks. A1 Bosses are melting with skills like Perfect strike or Tempest Bell.
Honestly when I first saw videos years ago and how slow this was vs Poe1 I was really excited it looked so much better and harder and needed more patience and skill.. but yeah now its just Poe1 again but you can actually do maps quicker with temp armor and shit, its more zoom zoom. The dev team has obviously given up and the game is destined to fail, I'll play it for a while then swap to another. Poe1 for 11 years or something but Poe2 maybe, 6 months?

It seems like some folk want combat to be similar to "No rest for the wicked" game.
If that is indeed so, then the whole skill system and loot needs to change with it. Possibility of that happening is extremely low, if I had to guess.

this game should be deleted and give money back to the customers.

Absolutely no. That game is completely overtuned in terms of punishment even for pure souls-like games.

What people want - is what was actually shown by GGG themselves in all those old promo-vids. Where you use certain skills because they are good for the situation. Where, for example, you can choose armor breaking skill for armored enemies and then use normal skill to kill them faster OR just use normal skill, but it will take longer to kill them. Where everything is clear, slow, and you can actually see what attacks white mobs use. But not to the extent when you can't handle more than 2-3 ordinary white mobs at once and need half a minute or more to kill some of them (like it is in NoRestFW).

How would you address the End Game then? The same as campaign? Where would the feeling of Progression and Power come from? What about loot drops? Loot would have to be changed completely.
None of that is going to happen outside the campaign and early endgame leveling.

If GGG wants hightier bosses with millions of HP to exist, then players need the dps to take those bosses on and once they get there, they will 100% 1shot the vast majority of mobs.
Thats pretty much inevitable.

However, whats going to invalidate this approach anyways in short order would be league mechanics going core and adding powercreep similar to PoE1.
There is no escaping this and this means GGG would be forced to rebalance all mobs at least once per year and I dont see that happening.

Even if they did that, it wouldnt help all that much cuz it would mean that only builds capable of leveraging all the mechanics introduced over time are going to feel good - after having jumped thru many many extra hoops just to get to the exact same powerlevel players are having right now relavtive to the buffed mobs.
That approach in itself is stupid.

As far as Im concerened "meaningful combat" is just as much a marketing buzzword as "meaningful loot" is. Its just not going to happen given how PoE is structered. The only way any of this could work would be releasing the game and never touching it again in any way, shape or form.
I don't think the game was ever meant to be slow and methodical.

After re-watching one of the early-ish videos (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8OL9qqnhDo), the biggest difference I see is the enemy oneshots not being present (Silverback Blackfist not oneshotting the player). You can clearly see that the skills are in the game for zooming (lots of AoE). Knowing it's just campaign, the signs were there this game would turn to a zoom fest. It seems the oneshots were added later to slow the game down.
