On death explosion/effects are a waste of time
All players (and new players will find out soon enough) know what they are and most of the time we're doing nothing but waiting a long time for it to go away before we can continue. What's the point? It's just wasting time. Can you come up with a better mechanic that doesn't force the player to wait? How about explode/remove it if the player steps off the area? Forcing the player to wait for no reason really disrupts the flow of gameplay and is a frustrating nuisance. Same thing goes to monsters that takes forever to initialize like the statues or little rock monsters to come to life or for the underground worms to pop up while they block the player. Need to speed it up 10x.
