Frost Wall Direct Hit Inconsistencies

I am a new player who has largely enjoyed my time in PoE2. I leveled a Deadeye, decided I wanted to play a more 'off-meta' build and leveled a Chronomancer using Paintmaster's CoC build.


While I have largely found the build to be fun and interesting, one thing that has perplexed me is the behavior of Frost Wall. The build (at least how I'm playing it) really relies on Frost Wall itself hitting targets, but it seems like there's no consistency as to what mobs can be 'directly hit' by it or not.


The larger 'Poisonous Crab' enemies can be hit by Frost Wall, but not the smaller ones which would lead you to think that it's based on size, but it's not. The smaller blue 'Snake Spitting' Guys can't be hit by Frost Wall, but spiders of any size can. The giant guys with coffins(or logs? idk) that have a big wind-up and slam the ground can't be hit by Frost Wall, but skeletons can.


If there was a valid/understandable reason for the Frost Wall not being able to hit enemies like them being 'evasive' or 'proximally tangible' I could live with it, but as far as I can tell, there isn't. This effectively results in different mob varieties being a huge nerf to my character, far more than any suffixes could be on a waystone.


I don't know if this behavior is intended or not either since the skill itself doesn't say anything about the what conditions result in directly hitting mobs with the ability making it feel like a guessing game. When a majority of the mobs I have in a map are able to be directly hit by Frost Wall, it's smooth cruising and I can do T15 w/ 600% waystone find no problem. When a majority of them can't be hit, the game turns into me spamming dodge roll for the next 30+ min getting off Frostbolts where I can.


I'm not currently in-game, but I'm sure I could reference a multitude of other 'direct hit' inconsistencies with the ability when I can play later today.


I could rant about how slow Frostbolt is for another 4 paragraphs, but the inconsistent Frost Wall behavior is far and away my biggest gripe with this build and the game so far.


Granted I'm guessing everyone and their mother is going to be playing Huntress (including me) on the next major patch, but if/when it comes time for me to roll another character I could never see myself picking anything related to Frost Sorceress again due to how painful it is to play.
