591+ Hours Played in POE2, and sadly I won't be coming back for updates until performance improves

i7 12700F

32GB RAM

4070ti - 1440p 120fps cap / 120hz

Sadly , my main is an infernalist and anything close to having spells similar to flame wall or summons or anything really makes FPS plummet on my PC.

I get super high CPU usage and abysmal GPU usage, literally will be like 50-90% CPU usage and sometimes 15-20% GPU usage, and only sending 50-80 watts to my GPU...

Compared to other games where GPU usage is up around 90%+ and CPU usage is typically around 40% usage... and sending 200+ watts to my GPU.

I understand that getting a beefed up CPU could fix performance for me a bit, but even when I went out and bought an 4070s and 7800x3d I still had crappy performance at times despite it being noticeable better ( I returned that build because I couldn't justify the cost when it only made performance marginally better and only in poe2)

My PC literally runs every single game I can throw at it AMAZINGLY, and even in games that are made to push graphics to the limit it still does great.. I was playing No Man's Sky on DLAA and it was using 90%+ of my GPU and sending 240+ watts to my GPU while keeping a steady 90-100+ FPS in 1440p which I was pretty impressed by, and the game looked amazing..

What's frustrating is that POE2 doesn't even seem to look that great!! It's barely beyond whats common these days and its nothing mind blowing, and yet performance is abysmal and sometimes drops to 20fps!!

I figured I'd take a few weeks break and came back to test out the new updates in the last few days and shockingly performance was significantly worse than it's ever been...

A map with juiced up fog and altars was literally dropping to 20fps slide show status while my GPU was barely being used and CPU usage was 90%+

It's very upsetting because I want to play the game so bad but am not about to go out and spend $2000 just so that I can play one single game despite the fact that it's the only game my PC can't play... I already spent $2500 on my PC back when it was brand new...

I understand that POE2 is an EA, and optimization comes at the end and around full launch, but in it's current state I couldn't even call it "Early Access Bad" It's the worst experience I've ever had on an ARPG that is as hyped up and large as POE.

And to note, My PC plays Diablo4 AMAZINGLY. I can play DIABLO4 at full ultra settings, 120hrz with max action levels and 100 mobs on the screen even more than POE2 and it still runs at a steady 100+ fps.

Seems like kind of a bad joke considering the entire POE community is up in arms constant "D4 BAD" memes and yet D4 performance blows POE out of the water.

Please fix the optimization..

P.S , I've spent hours and days on making every single change you can find across the internet in regards to fixing POE2 performance, whether it be low sound channel + reverb off, or lowering settings, changing resolution, making sure PC is in performance power, I have done every single thing possible and none of it has made any difference in regards to making play quality a better experience

Quite honestly, I think you're focusing on numbers too much. Don't look at your cpu/gpu utilization, just play the game and ignore all the numbers.

Yes, there are issues, but stop focusing on numbers and more on the experience.

For reference I have an I7-1300k and 32GB RAM and an Nvidia RTX 4070 (nothing overlocked) using 2560 x 1440 resolution at 60hz.

I feel like our setups are in the same ballpark.

Sorry if you can't enjoy the game, and yes I experience graphical issues, but of all the things in the game - this just happens to not be what I'm focusing on.

Endgame, No crafting, Overtunes exp death penalty at high-levels, and just way too much not focusing on what makes the game fun I think are the main issues.

too each their own, hope they can fix all the things and in a year we're all having the time of our lives.

When I mention the utilization, I am not "focusing on the numbers", it's simply relevant to my issue, I am more focusing on the fact that I get slide show 20-30 fps during maps which is unbearable. The novelty and enjoyment of the game was great for the first 500 hours but now all I can see is how crappy the performance is.

And yeah we have similar setups, but you play in 60hz and I play in 120, but despite that fact I don't think it matters much because I even tried on lower res and hertz and it didn't make much of a difference which is concerning in it's own right, why doesn't lowering the settings/res/hertz increase performance at all?

I'm glad you can look past the performance issues , but a lot of people myself included can't, and that will hurt GGGs bottom line no question
Maintaining ancient proprietary engine for nearly 15 years is no small feat, you should be grateful it runs at all:) One thing I never criticized about GGG is their engine and technical team, who spams rabbits from their hats porting this old wreck all the way from DX9. Even though game design team and top management doing everything they can to run project into the ground with decisions to kick more players away, lol.

sadly I won't be coming back

Sadly you will come back on day 1 and we all know that.
And they say it is impossible for us to play this game with Graphic cards like GTX 1660 super! Good luck to all of you rich boys..

You would think that after more than a decade with the same performance issues on POE 1, POE 2 would be different... but no... instead it's even worse!!! I've been grinding for more than 2 days to get about 10 towers, finally rolled a map with about 450%+ IIQ and even more IIQ for bosses! Trying to see what could drop from the map boss(Savanah) with my 780% Rarity gear.. and guess what.. can't get out of the portal cuz my cpu goes to over 4-500ms... for the 3rd time when I managed to roll a map like this... this is bull shi t!!! Do something to improve the perfomance issues FFS! This is currently unplayable!!! oh yeah!!! and my cpu is currently running with 4.0 GHZ and it's not that I only get 20-30 FPS, but it doesn't FUCKING MOVE until I die!!!!

No actually I won't. Some people have self control and lives that they can spend time on. I spent more time than I would have liked on poe2, and don't plan to do that again unless its worthwhile, and 20-40fps slideshow game play is not worth it.

I shouldn't need a $600 cpu to play a dam arpg with mid graphics
You talking about performance bro, do you know how many people play the game with GPU older than GTX 1660 super? and how many CPU older than 9600k? Its about 70% plus. Just remind you that fixing performance its not the main problem here especially when you see rich cry babies with GPUs like RTX 4060 and newer crying all the day for performance issues. Problems like new content of classes, skill/class balance issues and generally bringing inovated ideas and no just copying POE1 is the real ones. Of course we've expect one day a solution for everything but its not gonna happen until late 2028.

Why you cry, bro? Some people enjoy playing at 4fps as long as the game is balanced. Hell, I wouldn't mind playing at 1 frame per minute if that meant GGG would release more classes. Come to think of it, I'd play a still image as long as it was innovative.
