What Do You Think About POE2’s New Currency Trading System?
By now, most of us have experienced POE2’s new currency trading system, which is a huge improvement over POE1’s whisper → wait for a response → party up → trade process.
So, do you think this system is good? Why? ✅ Advantages: No more waiting for responses—no more "AFK sellers" or ignored whispers. No need to whisper or party up—just a few clicks, and you get what you need. More transparent market prices—no need to check third-party websites constantly. 🔹 Are you just using it as a simple currency exchange tool, or are you also getting into “trading stocks” like some players? Some players are making a fortune by buying low and selling high, sometimes earning more Divine Orbs than from actual farming. Have you found your own way to profit from this system? 💬 Let’s discuss: Has this trading system changed how you play? How do you think it will affect POE2’s economy? POE2’s trade system? More like POE1 with extra steps.
Yeah, no more AFK sellers, great. But now we’ve got price-fixers playing the Wall Street Exile Simulator. You think this is an improvement? No, it’s like using a fork to eat soup, technically possible, but painfully inefficient. - Buying low, selling high? Bro, I’m here to slay monsters, not run a fantasy stock market. - "No need for third-party sites!" Yeah? Then why does checking prices feel like decoding ancient runes? - Faster trades? Maybe if you enjoy fighting the UI more than the bosses. Just let me buy my items instantly without playing 4D chess against price manipulators. This isn't an economy sim, it’s an ARPG. GGG, fix it. "You're here to slay monsters and loot, not to worry about exchange rates, right? As long as you can get the currency you need, you don’t really care about how the rates fluctuate.
You don’t want this to turn into Wall Street because, at its core, it's still player-to-player trading, and dealing with prices and rates just gives you a headache. But what if it became a central bank instead? You could keep farming, looting, and playing the game as usual—without ever worrying about the exchange rates—because someone else would be managing it for you." |

The Simplest Explanation of Inflation in POE’s Economy
Currency in POE is just like money in the real world. If you print unlimited money without proper regulation, what happens? At first, you can buy an item for 100 Chaos Orbs. But as more and more currency floods the market: ➡ It rises to 200 Chaos. ➡ Then 400. ➡ Then 600, 1000… ➡ Eventually, by the end of the league, a single Divine Orb costs thousands of Chaos Orbs in Standard League. This is exactly why free markets in games often collapse—because currency generation is unlimited, but actual consumption and destruction of currency are minimal. The supply-demand balance breaks, leading to extreme inflation. --- POE1's Standard League: A Perfect Example of Hyperinflation In POE1’s Standard League, due to years of uncontrolled currency accumulation, the economy became so inflated that: 💰 1 Divine Orb = 3000+ Chaos Orbs (depending on the time and server). This isn’t because players are “manipulating prices” but simply because currency is constantly generated, but never properly removed from the system. --- What If GGG Acted Like a Central Bank? Now, imagine if POE2’s trading system wasn't just a player-to-player stock market but also functioned as a central bank. 🔹 What if it could automatically remove excess currency from circulation? 🔹 What if it could regulate the total amount of Divine Orbs and Chaos Orbs in the economy? This would be like a government removing excess money from the market, preventing inflation and maintaining economic stability. So, if unnecessary Chaos Orbs were gradually absorbed and destroyed by the system, wouldn’t we return to the original state—where a “Divine Orb” costs only 100 Chaos instead of 3000+? --- Something to Think About... GGG has already introduced an automated trading system, reducing the chaos of POE1’s manual trading. But if they take one more step and manage the economy like a real financial system, wouldn’t it create a stable, long-term market where inflation is controlled—without needing seasonal resets to “wipe the slate clean”? 💬 What do you think? Should POE2’s economy remain purely player-driven, or should GGG introduce mechanisms to prevent another Standard League disaster? |
