Ideas for Chronomancer

![]() Earlier today I had some ideas regarding the Chronomancer ascendency. Pretty much everything gets a buff, except for nerfs on active skills (Time Freeze especially, I think is too broken right now). First change is on first node, making it mandatory (like Bloodmage's 'Sanguimancy'). Everyone's here for Time Freeze, so we just get this over with. Also, changed the active skill name to something without elemental conotation. And gave node some fancy name! The idea here is make the archetype more clearly defined. Lastly, a nerf to effect duration and cooldown recovery of active skills on tree is stated here. Regarding the rest of the tree: tried to give a theme to the opposite sides (see notables with much sophisticated names at the bottom, 'Unstoppable Force' and 'Immovable Object'; more on these later). Idea is that left side is associated with movement and nimbleness. Right side would feel more like a "still" playstyle where you slow and freeze things around you. On the left, notable giving chance not to use a cooldown on skill use gets a conditional cooldown itself ("not more than once every x seconds"). I think the way the game is right now, there a too few skills with cooldowns (just the ones in chrono tree) to justify these cooldown nodes. So the idea here is to get a new interacton: possibility to use double amount of support gems that add cooldowns (but also a nerf: they add more cooldown time). 'Temporal Rift' is also on left side, but is moved to be a 3rd level notable. Before it the notable with aura, "Enemies in your Presence are slowed by 20%" (more thoughts on this later). On the right, "30% dmg taken recouped as life" and "Recoup effects happen over 4 seconds" are instead combined into one notable, but it also gets moved into a 3rd level one. Mandatory node before it is a new one, making percentage of dmg taken occur over time. Still on the right, opposite to cooldown-related node mentioned earlier, 'Time Snap' (also gets a rename). Thought it perhaps could also get a buff: refill a percentage of flasks charges on use. Maybe a nerf? Regarding the "much sophisticated" opposite new nodes at the bottom: They fork from notable 'Quicksand Hourglass' ("Every 12 seconds, gain 50% cast speed for 4 seconds") and both synergise with it. Also, they are themed as opposite elements, left being Lightning and right Cold. On the left, 'Unstoppable Force' gives permanent buffs to movement speed. Also, synergy of effect "every 12 seconds for 4 seconds" giving reduced movement speed penalty when using Lightning skills. On the right, 'Immovable Object' with permanent buffs to chill and freeze. Finally, it gets reduced mana cost of Cold skills "every 12 secs for 4 secs". I thought it should probably, instead of the chill and freeze buffs, get the other node's effect "Enemies in your Presence are slowed by 20%". But that one is already on opposite side of tree, and I couldn't think of anything to replace it that would go well with 'Temporal Rift' (which comes right after). Ideas? I think the Chronomancer is nice, but to me it feels a little rigid build-wise. Some of these changes I believe could give it more possible combinations. Any thoughts? Possible broken interactions? They should have looked into Diablo 3 how chronomancer works. It is perfect there - time sphere is very cool to play with. And all chrono skills in POE2 are meh.
