Faster Frame Time while watching Youtube
Hi everyone!
I know this will sound crazy, but I just notices something very confusing to me. Usually playing PoE2 I have very unstable frame times due to the CPU bottlenecking as you can see here: ![]() However when I'm opening a youtube video, for example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nSOMOXcviZc, then my cpu frame times drop and get much more stable. From a 50-70 fps I get a more consistent 65-70 fps. ![]() Does anybody have any idea how this can happen? I watched the cpu utilization but it's not really changing in any way ![]() I have a quite old system using - an i7 4790K with - a GTX 1080 - and 32GB RAM I'm on Windows 10 I didn't post this under bug reports since it might not have to do with PoE2 directly. You can check my graphics settings here https://imgur.com/a/xya6JBD Thanks for your help! Dernier bump le 14 févr. 2025 11:59:54

This is related to multithreading and CPU C-States.

Could you explain me in a bit more detail?
So the rendering engine for youtube is changing the C-States which benefit the game engine as well? Can I force this without watching youtube? |

This problem occurs for some players (I don't know why) when multithreading is enabled. It is not necessarily YouTube, it can be any background load on the CPU, you can also change the system power settings instead. Google C-States.

Thanks for the Info!
I disabled C States in the BIOS but no change detected, I also realized that disabling Engine Multithreading makes it way more stable. I start to think that this is related to how the game engine tries to distribute work on multiple cores, and maybe on older platforms it doesn't do a great job. It's still in early access after all, thanks for the great help seaman! |
