"Targeting" / "Locking" on Controller is Insufferable, "Sticking" to Objects Feels Awful

I'm still experimenting with new classes, but I recently rolled a gemling to see what all the hype was about and, oh my god, it is absolutely insufferable when my character ignores the direction i am facing / trying to move and auto targets something in <some other direction> and starts moving toward it.

I am constantly being pulled into walls, obstacles, enemies I'm not trying to attack, and, worst of all, patches of <something that damages you> on the floor.

More specifically, since the game views the "bell" ability as a targetable enemy, any time a bell is left behind a pack, my character obsessively tries to attack the bell instead of proceeding elsewhere.

This is compounded by the fact that the way things are coded/designed (not sure the proper term, forgive me), character models seem to "stick" to obstacles or the environment rather than "gliding" along them. I can't tell you how many times my Gemling has been stuck in place using tempest rush because there was some tiny spec of nothing in the environment between myself and my target, or if an enemy is just slightly around a corner, how many times my character just sits there swinging at / stuck to the corner of a wall instead of "gliding" around it. PLEASE please please implement <whatever it is> that causes characters to glide along objects rather than just getting caught on them.

My ranged characters don't experience this nearly as much because, well, I'm constantly managing their distance and staying away from obstacles naturally, but all of my melee characters suffer from these issues and it makes melee feel absolutely horrible.
