Arbiter of Ash - 1 attempt only

So in the patch 0.1.1 they said we would have more attempts to beat arbiter of ash, so i tried beating him on difficulty 4 but after dying once, i had no attempts left.
Is this a bug or intended ? Difficulty 4 only gives you 1 attempt ?

As mentioned in the atlas, each "arbiter difficulty" reduces the number of attempts.

So you have 6 attempts on difficulty 1 and 0 attempts on difficulty 4 ?
Why would they not say how many attempts you have ? Is this supposed to be a riddle for you to solve ? wth
