Triggered Skills can't expend charges (Cold Snap CoC)
Hi,
it seems that skills triggered are incapable of expending charges to bypass their cooldown even though the skill description states that functionality and the bypassing works when self-casting the skill. In my gameplay I noticed this while trying to use Cold Snap of Power in a Cast on Crit setup. Even though I have more than enough power charges, cold snap will only be triggered every 3 seconds and never consumes a power charge. Taking CoC out of the link and self-casting the skill immediately lets me cast Cold Nova multiple times by consuming charges without any other changes. I'm sorry to create a thread for what seems to be a known issue. However since there hasn't been a post about this in recent years (it seems), I'd like to report that the issue is still present in hopes for a fix. Or, if it can't be fixed or is nowadays considered "intended behaviour", please add a line to such skills that bypassing the cooldown only works when casting the skill yourself. I submitted a bug report with reference number 2.926.996.802 in-game. There are countless related threads describing the same bug, years old and most archived by now with either no answer or a "We're looking into it" reply. It's not a bug, just mechanics. Triggered skills cannot consume charges to refresh a cooldown.

Ah alright, thanks for pointing me to that post by Mark.
(Personally I feel it's quite unintuitive that it works this way - why would the cooldowns "combine" into one big cooldown to bypass, instead of both existing at the same time and the cooldown bypass only working on the bigger cooldown AFTER the shorter trigger cooldown e.g. by CoC has expired? But okay.) In that case, as I mentioned in my post, I'd suggest clarifying this somewhere - I couldn't find any mention that it works this way on the skill gem(s) or even the wiki. And looking for it on this forum yields the mentioned bug reports. So it should definitely be clarified somewhere I feel. |

"Because the current cooldown system supports only one cooldown per skill. And since it works fine in vast majority of cases, GGG don't really want to make a new, more advanced system, that supports multiple cooldowns (it's a big task and will cover only few additional cases). |
