The premise of this game is awesome, and when I played it back in closed beta, I liked it.
However, what will be done about hacks and exploits? I played Diablo 2 for many years but stopped when the cheating got out of control. Players modifying their cast and attack speed, duping, telehackers (players could teleport their characters), botters, and pickit users (a program that automatically picked up nearby items). I checked out a popular cheat website that primarily disseminates cheats and exploits for WoW and Diablo--and they now have a forum for Path of Exile; I checked it out and there is already a working "pickit" program. " wtf? hes not asking how to shut down the sites or RMT spam.. hes asking about third party programs that run in memory on a computer that is also running POE.. of course there are ways for GGG to stop it.. @ OP.. GGG has cheat detection built in, all they have to do is turn it on. last i heard, it was NOT on yet.. but thats just what i heard.. it may have been turned on and indeed working since then. Things with "increased" and "decreased" in the tooltip are additive ... where as "More" or "Less" are multiplicative ...

" It would be very difficult to completely stop cheating. Even in WoW there are still cheaters (mostly botters). However, when somebody becomes especially audacious by using something like a speed hack, they're typically detected or reported, and then banned within a day or so. Most of the hack programs have proven so far to be riddled with viruses.
If by pickit you are referring to being able to loot items from across the map? They would need to party up with normal players for it to be a major problem and they would get caught out fairly quickly that way...otherwise they still need to clear the map themselves. Actually there is no public Bot for PoE.
There are bots written by Chinese gold farmers, but they wont share them any soon(or never coz this is gold duck for them lol). If there will be such public bot, you can see this game turns into den of failure in no time. Other stuff doesnt actually matter, coz it doesnt have such an impact. |

" And to this if people would not party, then how the would be spoted :))) Speed hack and such are just matter of time till they(cheaters) figure out how package exchange works. " What about the ones that aren't? " Pickit is a program that automatically picksup nearby items quicker than any human can. It'd be awesome if players policed themselves by ostracizing anyone found using such programs, but if Diablo 2 is any indicator, that won't happen. What will end up happening instead is more and more players will start using pickit to even the playing field. Then there will be the players who won't even know what's going on. They won't be able to tell if somebody is cheating or just really fast. |

Stopping the pickit hack is simple and 100 percent effective. Have loot drops for each individual person just like pretty much every other loot game does now. This stupid loot timer is a joke.

" LOL ok whatever you say. Im interested in what this supposedly is? Seeing as they have never fixed any of the following in any arpg or mmo. How are they gonna fix: Maphacks - not detectable Bots - not detectable Pickits - not detectable Boxxing - detectable sort of but unfixable unless you wanna piss a big percentage of the population. OK after you give us info on how to fix these problems (the same issues that even Blizzard has not been able to fix on WOW) explain the last and most important question. How do you stop em from just making new accounts for free, 2 seconds after they get banned. |
