Good 1 handed builds?
I'm looking for ideas for an efficient 1-handed builds that don't focus on minions/spellcasting. I have only thought of 2 real options so far - Exploding Man (tempest shield + molten shell) and a shield charge build.
Every other build I can think of seems to be much better with either a 2-handed weapon or dual-wielding. The reason I think that is because as soon as you don't take points in improving your shield, having the shield is a waste (because points in 1-hander skills benefit you more if you dual-wield). Double strike is the skill that is clearly designed for a sword+board build, but for the life of me I can't see any way to make that particular skill the cornerstone of a build. Anyone got any ideas? |

Try a bog-standard Ele cleave duelist, or 1h mace and board ground slam mara.

It's a pure phys. mace templar with heavy strike, shield bash and ground slam as main skills. Very solid, no great dps but no great weaknesses either. Except for the weapon mediocre gear is more than enough to do maps. Weapon should have high damage though or you'll take too long to clear them. I like it because it's sort of 'classic' and it's very flexible. The build as in the link you'll get around lv75, additional points can go into more block, more %armour or more offense, all within easy reach. Build Summary

Holy hell that is a lot of life passives! Clearly I have a thing or 2 to learn about builds.
I had an idea of a glacial hammer build using 1-hand + shield, using nova & cold snap as CC. I use shield charge & tempest shield for a bit more damage. I just feel that if was using a staff instead of 1-hander, I would still get the survivability benefits of having everyone chilled, but I would be doing considerably more damage and have longer range to boot. I get the feeling that 1-handing is inefficient because of how I have to split up my passives, except for the 2 circumstances where shields are clearly the best option - tempest+molten, or shield charge. I have been running a fire and lightning templar that primarily uses groundslam. Using a shield instead of a second mace doesn't hurt my DPS that much, and I really like the extra protection.
Bullshit, you get the game for free.
