Shift + left click, why?
Firstly, this topic for some odd reason gets me flamed and I don't understand why. If I'm missing something, if I'm wrong on something, tell me what it is, don't just post some pointless one-liner insult to show off in front of everybody.
Alright... Shift is there so you don't have to click on every monster to attack, as well as preventing accidental moving while doing the aforementioned. Makes sense, right? Well, why don't you just use a key on the keyboard to attack (the rest of your skills are there already), and use left click to only move? You just eliminated a completely unnecessary extra step to attack. Move to where you want to attack, and attack. Why do you need a 2nd key to attack? I don't understand. So could somebody explain to me why games likes these make you use left click as a skill slot? Why the hybrid move/attack that requires a 2nd key just so that can work? BTW, I don't need directions on how to bind keys or anything like that, I'm fine, just curious as hell. ANSWERED: LOOK AT GRIMMHAMMER'S POST IF YOU WANT TO SEE WHAT A REAL POST LOOKS LIKE. Both of you need to re-read the OP. When you skim over a post or assume what somebody is probably asking, that's when you end up giving terribly basic obvious answers. Really? You think I made this whole thread cuz I didn't know how to left click the left click skill slot and choose move only? Come on.

I use it to stand my ground n fire projectiles into a mob without specifying a target.
Plus im running around using the left click to move so i just press shift n i start firing my weapon. as for for melee. eh slightly less useful. Smoother than Smooth.

" But you can do everything you mentioned without shift. Put your skill on anything but left click, and don't use shift. Watch how it works the exact same. That's what I don't understand. When you use a skill that ISN'T on left click, it AUTOMATICALLY STOPS YOU. It's like this in every game pretty much. But yet the most common way to play is make it so that's not automatic? Make it so you have to use 2 keys for your main attack? Boggles the hell out of me. I feel like I'm seriously missing something. Dernière édition par PackersFTW#3100, le 26 mars 2013 à 01:17:00

"I'm not sure why you made this thread. No matter what Key your attack is bound to you always have to hit shift if you don't want to move while attacking(eg when using cleave). I have no idae what the hell else you are talking about. Maybe, you should learn to explain your self properly so people can understand you. |

" That's exactly my point, is that you AUTOMATICALLY STOP when you use a skill that isn't on left click. I have yet to run into a skill that you still move around with while hitting let's say the 1 key to use it. Is this not true for all skills? If not, why don't you just tell me casually? "Why are you assuming left click is your main attack? You can set your attacks to any other key. No one uses left click for skills unless they have too many skills and are forced to. |

There are quite a few attacks (such as cleave/groundslam) with which it is possible to hit enemies that are outside of your melee range. However, the default behaviour for these attacks is to move your character into melee range and then perform the attack. Shift-clicking allows you to perform these attacks without moving your character. This means that you can shift-click to attack at the maximum range of your skill, move away, shift-click to attack again, move etc, allowing you to kill enemies with these melee attacks while never entering the melee range of the enemy, and so never getting hit.
There are also other uses, such as with lightning strike. Using shift-click, you can be standing half a screen away, and the middle projectile will travel exactly to where you click, allowing accurate range dps with this skill without moving to the enemy. The are undoubtedly other tricks, but these are two situations that I use it in. |
