Exception error only when changing instances

Hi there,

I am getting the infamous

Exception
"":In source code file
f:\buildslave\build\Production\Source\Windows\Visual\device\d3d11\textureded11.cpp at line 1074

Processing file:
Error: -2147024882
Message

(line number and error number are irrelevants)

Sometimes I just get the message "Path of Exile has stoped working" and crashed to desktop (but I know that is related to the above Exception)

This is happening only when changing instances (barely noticable until act 4, escalating in act 5, and know in Part 2 almost every single time that I use a Portal or waypoint), and the funny think is that in between the game is running smooth at least in my case and all of a sudden changing an instance and the error pops up.

I know that is related to a dx11 (cause up until Betrayal I use the dx9EX and the game was realy smooth).

Having everything low, tried different display resolutions, VSync on/off, Dynamic Resolution off and on at different frame rates (when is on apart from the retro feeling of my old 8bit systems - is cumbersome with minimal affect in performance), tried reinstall the dx drivers in redist folder, update my gpu drivers (which make things worst and I have to revert to my old ones), defrag the game folder, delete the config file, delete minimap folder and setting everything low in NVIDIA control panel, with no luck.

I do know that my desktop configuration is more than obsolete,
Intel Core Duo,
NVIDIA Quadro 600,
4 GB Ram,
Win 7 Ultimate (32 bit).

With this configuration I played since warbands and with a few memory twicks since last league, everything was fine (standalone client - wired connection).

From what I read so far, is that people with up to date gaming configurations have the same problem (and some even worse than mine).

Is this problem related to a bad optimization and we have a fix in the future?

Is it a problem between 32 and 64 bit OS?

Is it a memory leakage?

I am willing to upgrate my rig to something more powerfull, but to be honest I am not convinced that this will solve the problem.

Any help will be much appreciated,
...and sorry for long post.

ps: I forgot to mention that if I choose fullscreen everytime I Log in the game reverts to windowed (If I choose windowed fullscreen it's not reverts).

...And something extremely alarming.

Since I hit the causeway area in Act 7, the game became nearly unplayable,
with the exception error and crashes every few seconds of play.

Entering Incursions or Memories is out of question anymore.

The League is pretty much ends for me at this point.

I hope for a patch fix soon.
So ...the exceptions saga continues.

After two weeks of trying diferent things, today I decided to upgrate win7 ultimate (32 bit) to win10 pro (32 bit).

Also I did a full reinstalation of the game (standalone client).

The problem is that with win7 atleast I was be able to login and play for sometime, now everytime I launch the game I login select a character and when the town loading I get a "metadata" exception (two gears start spining and the game freezes) or I get the this exception

" ":In source code file f:\buildslave\build\Production\source\windows\visual\device\d3d11\textureded11.cpp at line 1074 Processing file:
Error:-2147024882

and again the game crashes.

The hardware configuration is described in my first post on this thread,

I run the program as administrator, I run a pack check, and I notice that after the new instalation of the game in the redist folder there is no longer a dxupdate file (only some licences).

Any help will be much appreciated.

After a lot of failed attemps fixing the recently problems of the game I consider upgrate my GPU for start.

For a PC with these specs

Optiplex 780 (motherboard OC27VV) - PCIe 16(2.0)
Intel Core Duo E8500/3,16 GHz
4 GB RAM
OS Win10 Pro (32Bit)

Whitch of the following GPU's are worth upgrading?

MSI VGA GeForce GTX 1050 Aero ITX 2GB OC
Palit VGA GeForce GTX 1050 StormX 3GB
Sapphire VGA Radeon RX 550 Pulse 4GB
MSI VGA GeForce GTX 1050 Gaming X 2GB

From practical point (space and mounting limitations of the box) I am in favor of the Radeon.

Any help will be much appreciated.

I tried A LOT of times to reinstall the game during the weekend with no luck (standalone client).

Everytime I install the game, after each uninstallation I delete also the folders in program files and My games.
Each time I download from the site a fresh installer.

I noticed two things during any installation
1. I didn't prompted where to install the game (installed by default in C:/program files/Grinding gear games/path of Exile
2. The redist folder uppon creation is empty with only two licences

It happens to have kept my very first PathOfExile installer of 2015 (awakening).
When I run this one it prompts me to where to install the game (hard drive and folder path) and also upon creation inside the redist folder there are the comprest and decomprest files of dxsetup, of course I can't download the synthesis patch with such an old installer.

Every time I launch the game after each installation, after I log in and chose a character, in the loading screen of the first town, I get a bad allocation error, or/and this
Exception

" ":In source code file f:\buildslave\build\Production\source\windows\visual\device\d3d11\textureded11.cpp at line 1074 Processing file:
Error:-2147024882

with different line and error code each time,

and the message Path of Exile has stop working and crashed to desktop.

It's the same if I run it from desktop, or client or PathOfExile.exe inside folder.

Also for some starnge reason the configuration cannot keep my email and I have to write it again each time I login (the password is kept alright), and the desktop shortcut icon has the admin icon without run it as admin (after a restart of pc the admin icon gone).

Hardware configuration as above,
OS win10 pro (32bit).

It's for sure your hardware that's the issue, and upgrading from win7 to 10 most likely did not help the matters. Due to how tech works these days, you might as well be running an old Pentium 4 3.2ghz, other than from apps other than games it wouldn't make a blind bit of difference.
I am also guessing you are running from HDD, which is why you are experiencing vast majority of your crashes and disconnects. Some games require a lot of CPU power, others need a beefy GPU, PoE is the odd case that really, and i do mean really needs an SSD. So if performance in PoE is for you a priority, getting an SSD will be the single largest quality of life and performance boost you can get, if budget is of a concern, you don't even need a high capacity one, just get an ssd of capacity that is affordable for you.
No rest for the wicked.
Thanks for your reply.

My concern is that if I get a new gaming PC are my problems with POE solved cause I read the past few weeks a lot of posts with similar problems with hardware top of the notch.

My main game is POE and I am already in a process of acquiring a new pc.

Any suggestions in hardware are welcome.

Thank you in advance.

Unless you're a streamer making cash off of a specific game and audience, you really shouldn't be building a PC around a specific game.
As long as the PC is running well and is properly maintained, you shouldn't have any issues whatsoever. Vast majority of those complaining most likely have dug them selves through some really messed up porn sites or some such, or just plain simply post fake system specifications since their real problems are hardware related because i don't believe that someone who apparently has got twice as good a PC i do can have severe performance problems, cuz my game is running perfectly fine.

Generally speaking if you want a prebuilt system, nobody can really suggest that much.
If you want to build your own rig and assemble it your self, you should really ask for that in forums such as linus tech tips or TomsHardware, just give them a budget and they will most numerous amounts of configurations.
Forums like these are not for that, since everyone is a ''professional at everything''.

No rest for the wicked.
I've been having these exceptions errors as well since a few days and yesterday it became unplayable (error pop in as soon as I log and walk around a bit)

I have a 3 years old PC with a GTX 960, the game was playable (few crashes a day) up until yesterday. Now it's constant crashes, after a few seconds of logging in.

I doubt it's related to how ancient/recent the hardware is. My game was decently fine up until yesterday. It seems it has to do with Directx11 and PoE itself.

Maybe changing hardware would fix it, but I went from no issues in past leagues to this with the same hardware, so I doubt it (and shouldn't be necessary anyway, it comes from the game). Hope that helps!
