To be honest, this topic is outside my area of expertise.

My understanding of the situation is;

• There are no other options, as the Chinese version of the game is different in some ways - for example, in monetization and how much gore is in the game. To connect to game servers, your locally installed client must be running the same version.
• Kinda covered this one above. The Chinese client has a local publisher - Tencent - and they adapt the game for the local audience in various ways.
• I don't believe so, unfortunately.

If you'd like a more authoritative response, you can e-mail support@grindinggear.com - just bear in mind they'll be very busy since a challenge league launched less than 24 hours ago, so their responses may be slower than usual.

The Chinese of the game is going to be... very different. You might actually prefer trying to play on the nearest gateway outside of China in order to use the international client. No harm in checking it out, though! Just wanted to warn you ahead of time. :P
