Struggling with uber Elder - any suggestions?

I chose assassin because of the insane crits.

I'm currently sitting at 6.4k effective life. I am ele-resist capped. My Barrage single target damage deals 2.5mil shaper DPS, while Ice Shot does 800k. Those of course exclude the damage from Void Shot, which does considerable amount of damage as well.

I tried two different aura setups:
HoI, Grace, Aspect of the Cat, War Banner with 50% chance to blind on hit Watcher's eye
HoI, Hatred, Aspect of the Cat, War Banner with +cold damage to attacks Watcher's eye

I usually get randomly one-shot by Shaper's balls or Elder's icicles, or get finished off by 3k dmg melee while taking a bit of damage from the beam.

Not trying to be a dick, but its pretty easy, simply dont get hit. I've killed uber elder lots of times, and I do it by not getting hit by balls/beam. The ice shards that elder shoots out has never been an issue for me though. Just move around a lot.

You know, that wasn't constructive at all. It's not like I'm standing in the same spot. I constantly move around.

avoid the damage, what else to say. practice more, learn how to control your character better

or do you really think some tweaks to your build like 5% more ehp/dps are going to make any difference?

You are not supposed to tank the balls or the beam unless you are running some sort of instant leech beast that can do it (still think balls would kill you). So its as constructive as you can get it, just dont get hit. Have shaper on your screen at all times so you can see when the balls are coming, unless you arent able to move predictively.

I usually get hit by the balls when elder does his action speed reduction cone, that takes effect even if I blink to the other side of the map (behind him) and won't let go until his animation ends.

This is what I find the most difficult to deal with, because there is no counterplay to it. You get caught in the telegraph, move away not taking any damage from his cone degen, but you're still a snail.

Thats pretty good. Take every fight as practice, you will get better. The fight is all about avoiding damage and doing damage whenever you have an opening, thats all there is to it.

What do you mean on cooldown? What movement skill are you using?
