RF Berserker, Pyre Saphire Ring
As the title says i´m playing RF Berserker and have found a Pyre Saphire Ring. This ring gives great resistances and 70% burning damage, but it also gives 40% cold damage converted to fire damage. Will this stat ever f up Elemental Equilibrium when i shield charge enemies to get Elemental Overload? The only item that adds any damage to attacks is on a ring that adds lightning damage, so when i shield charge it should give enemies -50% resistance to all other elements than lightning.
Is there a better ring to use than Pyre? In my head it gives insane boost to my dmg with the 70% burning damage. But then i have another question, the Elemental Focus Support says it cannot inflict elemental ailments, will burning ever happen since enemies cannot get ignited? I'm curious about this as well, I use 2 Pyre rings currently on my RF build and being somewhat new to Elemental Equilibrium I don't even know if it is being triggered correctly. When I shield charge into mobs I will get a Star like aura that lasts for 5 seconds and I assumed that was EE, based on how much faster the mobs die.

My understanding is yes. Easiest thing to do is just check your shield charge skill to see if it is doing any fire damage.

" EE is an effect on the mobs, not on you, as someone already said the star is fortify. Which shouldn't grant you any extra dmg, unless you took some fortify nodes in your passive tree. EE can only be triggered by skills/spells that hit and only performed by you or totem. This is why its not being overwritten by RF, scorching ray and seering bond (just mentioned those,as you could use them to support your build), as its not a hitting spell. So as youwill hit with your shield charge, make sure you don't have any added fire to attacks affixes on your items. easiest to check in the skill tab for the shield charge. Many use an orb of storm to inflict lightning dmg,then ofc, you cannot have any fire dmg added to spells. And yeah if you have cold to fire conversion, then ofc, any added cold dmg, would also deal fire and make the mobs more resistant to both. About ailments and RF, RF doesn't ignite the enemies, its more a degen effect as long they are in the effected area. It doesn't hit, so it cannot afflict any ailments anyway. (I am considering myself still as a noob, so if I made any misstakes sorry, just trying to help as good as I can) :P |

" Thank you for finally telling me what that aura was ive been looking for a while and that makes sense. I have been trying to setup orb of storms with curse on hit, flammability and increased critical strikes for a my gloves to trigger EE just having a hard time getting a 4 linked blue socket on my current pair or any decent pair as i dont have Vorici leveled up enough to do it easily (RF got me to Act 10 fast). I already do significant damage without the EE based on my gear/jewels, i cant wait to see what it does when i finally get these gloves setup! |

I think i got it now with your help. It seems everything is working fine. Got myself a Kaom´s Heart too, and I can do up to t13 maps now. Need to look closer at my gear, read some guides to get some ideas on what to go for next =)

Same here got all my gear setup now especially jewels with the new keyword search function, haven't had any maps drop higher than tier 7 yet so may have to trade for some higher ones. Got my life in the mid 9k range with tons of burning damage and resistances so i think im ready. The elemental equilibrium is fantastic with the orb of storms.

" What might also work is some scorching ray (lowers also fire resistance by i think up to 24%) setup,if you want to add some more dmg with cast while channeling and add arc just to trigger ee. and yeah if you like searing bond should also benefit from all fire and burning dmg. as both skills don't hit, they won't interfere with your ee. Just an idea, if you have some sockets free. |

" Those are good ideas, all my sockets are tapped out at the moment though, 3 on Doryani's Catalyst, 3 on Rise of The Phoenix, 4 on my Hrimnor's Resolve, 4 on my crafted gloves, and no sockets on Kaoms Heart or Roots. I was looking last night though with the ability of the new filtering at a crated helm that has the Righteous Fire as an attribute to free up a socket and almost 75% of the ones i saw had added burning damage skill as well so that could be 2 sockets right there. I like to look at all the possibilities for maybe changing it up a bit but without sacrificing anything the way it sits now because it already works exceptionally well. If it aint broke dont fix it i think is the saying, but having all these exalts and chaos orbs just sitting there because this build was so cheap to do makes me want to try different stuff lol.
