Bleed immunity from flasks not working
Unbelievable that this is not in the list of known issues, since the bug has been there for many months now:
Bleed immunity from Staunching flasks just does not work! After dropping the flask, it will start to remove bleeding dots, but mobs will still apply bleeding. There's no immunity at all. I've died many times to this issue and I cannot fathom the reason why not the whole POE community is complaining about this! I'm also pretty sure I'm not the first one bringing this up: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1949891 This thread is from September 2017, but I don't see it being fixed atm. Is this about Lizzy_NeverMissy in Abyss League?
Your only Staunching flask has the Seething prefix, so your immunity lasts 0 seconds. "VPs are not required to change their posting style. " I expected a reply like this, but the flask's tooltip still says "recover 979 life over 7.0 seconds". The way I see it, the flask has 3 different effects: 1. heal for 979 life (instant) 2. remove bleeding (instant) 3. immune to bleeding (for flask duration) Flask duration of this flask should still be 7.00 seconds, although the healing effect is instant, the bleeding immunity should last for 7 seconds! " Yes, it does. Which you know not to be true. So why put faith into a line of text which you know to be incorrect? " No it shouldn't - and you can test this. If your character takes a small amount of damage and is inflicted with bleeding, and you use a non-instant Life Flask of Staunching, when your health reaches 100% the flask effect will end. No more life recovery, no more bleed immunity, no more anything. This proves that a Life Flask's suffixes only take effect while the life recovery effect itself is active. When that ends, for any reason, so does the suffix's effect. You're arguing the two durations are separate and unrelated. We can prove this isn't the case. If you still think this is a bug, here's GGG saying otherwise; " Source: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/446049/page/1#p4263353 "VPs are not required to change their posting style. "Except 3. Flask duration is zero, so you get zero seconds of immunity. Instant equals all at once. There is no duration. Edit: too slow. Sarno beat me. " Cool beans. :) If it helps at all, I do find Path of Exile's flask mechanics unintuitive and they're probably not what I would do if I was designing my own game (not that I'm qualified to make one). I've seen Mark explain why they're designed the way they are; " Source: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/18650#p298353 I suppose it's easy for me to have no responsibilities and criticize what others do without having to offer a better alternative. Glad I'm not faced with the dilemmas they are. Anyways, hopefully the second quote helps. I find that generally when people see the reasoning behind a decision, it's easier to accept even/particularly if you don't agree with it. "VPs are not required to change their posting style.
