I hate crafting in this game so much

This may be an unpopular/niche opinion but I absolutely detest the chromatic crafting in this game.
Say, you need your belly of the beast to have 4 red 2 blue sockets. Not even that hard to achieve, right? Only 2 off-colors. Yet in reality you spend thousands of chromatic orbs and 100+ chaos to buy more because there is no way for you the get the right colors even if you use the 25 chromatic 2 blue sockets Vorici bench. You are always 1 color off. 3 blues, 2 blues 3 reds 1 green, 2 blues 3 reds 1 green 3 more times in a row, it doesn't seem to get it right at all. The problem? You cant change the color of a single socket. You cant pay to recolor 1 socket and instead every time you roll you change them all. Meaning you either hit it big or you are suffering for minutes on end watching how you almost get it but not quite. It is the pure definition of gambling and unlike the fusing into 6 link it doesn't yield that big of a reward either - all you do is adjusting the armor so you can play a different build or hell, adjusting your own build maybe. I don't know, man. Few things have no safety nets and trying to color a 6 link is definitely one of them. Dernier bump le 7 janv. 2018 à 15:28:24

" I kind of agree but it also makes sense to a certain degree. That chest is Str/Dex, so red, and green sockets take priority. The system was made that way; yes you can go off track, but it'll be harder. |

I've suggest an "orb of transference" in the past, and this seems like a good enough place to mention it again. This orb would work on any item that naturally has sockets (not granted by a mod, excluding things like "has two abyssal sockets" or tabla's guaranteed 6L) and would destroy the item but retain the pattern of the sockets and colors sort of like the eternal orb retained the info of the item. The resulting pattern could be applied to what ever item of the same item class you had.
With one of these, you could work on the links/colors of another item while continuing to use the item you want to modify. You could link/color a base that was easier to color the way you want and transfer that to your piece you want to modify. |

I am aware of how the color priority system works. Problem is - resource spent and eventual reward. You can waste a lot of fusings for that six link but the end reward is huge so many people will do it. Hell, a whole bunch of them are making their currency out of linking armors.
But then we have coloring and things become hairy. Is there a difference between a 4R 2B 6 link and a 3R 2B 1G one? Are you going to sell the first one for more? Highly unlikely. Yet the amount of time and resources it can take is similar to the amount fusing a 6 link can take - thousands of orbs(and yes, I know fusings are much more expensive than chromatics). I feel its unfair when the end reward is basically adjusting a build or switching to a new one. |

WHen I 1st started playing the game, the socket & linking really turn me off. Chrom, jewellers& especially fuse, hardly drops, worst so that I have no idea of the vendor reciples for chrome (how am I suppose to, when theer is no in game tutorial, even now).
Having to use the gems & make sure the ever changing gears need to be of right color, # of sockets, & link is just pure chore. It si still today. I can't see how it enhance the game in meaningful way except more RNG grind. Having to color 6 link item is awful, more so if you need to be off color. the thing is that you need to evaluate your chances to get what you want before starting the process. vorici chromatic calculator tells me that you need about 24 tries with 2B vorici bench to actually get your 2B4R, so about 600 chromatics, and that is quite an easy thing to get.
if you want to do more complex off-color 6-sockets, you can also craft colors using the vorici jewellers techniques but that is a lot more expensive. You can even end up with things like these (made that one in harbingers and actually needed a G for the last one, it took me over 3000 jewellers to get that last green one): good luck ! |

" The method wouldn't work if you have a fully link Chest. Unless of courese you are willing to give up the link. Its just very bad RNG in my opinion. |

Took me 500 chroms with no success then I said to myself wait a minute: boom 1shot vorici 3 blue. Cost me just a little less than 100 jews. wich is kind of expensive in a way, but not that much in the grand scheme of things :) About 5+ off color chests and 2hands, it's doable using vorici non the less, the bad news is that you are dependant on your own 6L luck. Crafting? What is this 'crafting' of which you speak? I've not seen any crafting in this game, only gambling. No one would ever take an some item to a craftsman and pay to get a random result. That's the opposite of crafting.
They should be called 'gambling orbs'. - here's my sig

It's currency sink. Without it chromes wouldn't have value.
