New Player, annoying FPS drops
Hi,
i know fps drops is a issue for many players. i googled a lot and tryed different stuff but nothing realy helped. I run 60 fps with max settings, but at some maps or if many mobs do spawn (like after klicking those strongboxes) i drop down to 30 (with Vsinc) or 20-40 fps (w/o Vsinc). In breaches i have constant low fps (like <20). And Harbringers are horrably too, and not even because of many mobs. The fps keeps low even when only the harbringer himself is alive Lowering the Settings doesnt change anything! The game is just not enjoyable with those drops, it feels like u are playing on cheewinggum... I play with selfcast glacial cascade, i guess that makes things worse. If i cast gc on a screen of mobs my fps drops horrable for 1-2 sec, then they die and my fps is fine. It feels like i would had a massive recoil while killing stuff with a shotgun -.- I want to use the time till ne new Season to get my game running constant @ 60 fps, no matter the graphic. my specs are: 16 gb Ram 4 Core AMD Radeon R9 380 Series Windows 7, 64 Bit, Directx11 Drivers are up to date. POE is installed on my SSD (not via Steamclient) Pls help me! ps: dynamic resolution doesnt work for me neither... fps keeps droping, resolution doesnt scale Dernière édition par Immaniz#0064, le 29 nov. 2017 à 15:02:28 Dernier bump le 1 déc. 2017 à 10:21:24

Similar thing here, have over 5000 hours in PoE and the last few days have been unplayable due to fps, I've tried every combination of settings across both of my monitors.
Updated all drivers, uninstalled PoE and reinstalled it again. Just awful FPS drops constantly, down to 1fps in harby packs... Never had anything like this with the game before, it's unplayable right now. I stream daily at twitch.tv/CellTank

Thats very interesting!
Since i just played like 100 hours, as i said im a new player. At the begining of my poe experience the fps wasnt a great issue, the trouble began when i started to do higher maps on the atlas. I attributed this to the greater healthpool of the mobs und so more damage that has to be calculated (since this caused freezes and performance drops in diablo 3...). But now that u state ur problems just started some days ago, maybe the higher level of the mobs didnt start my problems after all... |

Could you make sure that you have your power optimization setting set to off and the same for target frame rate control

Both were set "off" in my settings...
But i had the "surface Format Optimization" on, switched it off, not much of an impact i guess :/ but the framerate control is another thing: if i have fps drops i want the fps capped to 60, since going down from 100+ to even 40 makes the game feel very clunky. I dont want to use vsinc, cause i drop instant to 30fps because of it, even if the game could handle the situation with like 40 or 50 fps. But the framerate control doenst work for me, if i put it on 60 in the POE settings from AMD. Still going up to like 70-80 fps sometimes... ps: if u need more detailed system specs just let me know! And could someone tell my, that the game should run constant 60 fps with my pc? Never have any problems with new AAA titles on steam, so its a setting/poe issue and not my pc, right? ^^ One more thing: can some1 explaine to me the frametime (ms) value, im getting showed after pressing f1? The game should run at 100+ fps as and maybe drop some frames in the most intense situations but still should be over 60.
You didn't state which CPU you got you just said 4core. That doesn't help too much since you can have nowadays a 2core i3 which runs most game at ultra settings when paired to a decent gpu [ which you got ] but when you pair an older i5 4cores for example with the same gpu it can just choke. More Mhz and more Cores doesn't always mean better performance. In order for us to rule out that your system is bottlenecked can we have your specific specs? Frame Time is simply the time between frames being displayed in thousands of seconds. It's healthy to have it under 20ms to as low as possible. If you're locked at 60fps it should stay locked as well at 16.6 or so. If it's fluctuating too much there's problem with hardware comuniticating with itself [ CPU with GPU or the other way around, sometimes faulty hard drives can cause these fluctuations ] Also: Are you playing with DX11 on or DX9/9EX? Prozessor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2500 CPU @ 3.30GHz, 3601 MHz, 4 Cores, 4 logical Prozessors
Im running windows 7, 64 bit (SP1, Build 7601) Im playing with dx11 (up to date). Never tried dx9 since many players complained about performance issues on dx9 Frame Time is fluctuating for me i guess, i will pay more intendtion to it and let u know! |

Hello. I just wanted to say that I have the same exact problem. I know its not graphics related, because I don't see any difference on the lowest possible settings (graphics_quality 5 in the .ini file) its still the same drops in fps, from smooth 50-60 (I have my fps capped at 60 from nvidia control panel) in hideout, to as little as <10 in some situations. I dont really have huge problems in maps cuz of the current Vaal Pact, I just keep pressing right click and survive. I started getting frustrated on Shaper. I know my build is capable of killing him, but when the game stutters for a couple of seconds and I end up in the middle of his beam or ground slam... its infuriating. I really love the game but don't know what to do. I tried pretty much everything suggested in forums. My internet is top notch, the only thing is I dont have SSD, but I've seen people with the same problem that have the game installed on SSD. Any suggestions?
