Bosses are just broken

Sorry but any game where a boss that I am 15 levels higher than can just one shot me from off screen and then my best strategy is to just lay there while the minions that he can't even put a dent in chip him down to death is just a broken pile of trash.

All Bosses from act 5 to 10 are just stupid overtuned with life and AOE attacks with stupid overtuned dmg i simply respawn spam till they die after roughly 5 to 10 minuttes i love playing softcore <3
Sounds like a case of git gud. I'm playing a summoner wearing Tabula and I haven't been one-shot, offscreen or otherwise, all the way up to t14 maps so far.

Other than the possible exception of the Innocence fight (maneuverability is a pain), I agree that it's a build/playing skill issue. None of the new act bosses (except A10 Kitava) even came close to one-shotting my Marauder, and he's pure melee.
What build do you use and what are your res/defences/life/es ?

In POE you need max res a descent life pool and find ways to survive like leech life / block / life regen / endurance charge.
I just built every minion node I could with lightning backup. My point is if the game is set up in such a fashion that a regular boss (I believe the one in particular that made me quit this time is Sin) requires a specific build (even with me being many levels above it) to beat and then on top of that my best strategy is to just lay there dead and let my minion kill it (because despite that fact that he can one-shot me, he can not even do any damage to them), the game itself is unplaytested garbage. As far as 'get gud' goes, how do I advance my skill on a boss that one shots me the second my screen loads? Set a specific build just for that boss? If that is the plan of the game, I stand by my evaluation that the game sucks.

You just detailed why your minions both survive you and do all the work.

  • You split your focus.. minions and lightning. Jack of all trades, master of none..?
  • You unbalanced your build with too many offensive nodes and no survivability.

Your entire outlook on most bosses will change if most of your nodes are geared toward surviving and you keep your gear well-crafted and current.

Just because you can reach dozens of nodes related to a skill you like from the starting area early on doesn't mean you should take them. Some of them you can come back to when your character is level 90+. Some of them you'll never get and won't need them. But you need life, energy shield, or whatever your chosen defensive structure requires for you to not die.

It's not the game that's set up wrong, its that you expect to not die when building a fragile glass cannon. I built a lot over the years.. but I did expect to die a lot. And I did. A lot. :) And it was fun, but I think not so much as actually surviving to maps and being able to melt map bosses.

you learn how to build your characters so they have more defenses and dont get 1 shot. You chose the passives and gear that have ended up with your minions being able to tank stuff while you cant. You could have chosen a bunch of passives that made your character so tanky that the boss couldnt put a dent in you, but he 1 shot all your minions, and that wouldnt work either. There was no doubt many choices between those 2 extremes that would have provided you with a balanced setup that would have been able to beat the boss without you or your minions dying.
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)
They are so broken that HC player have erased all boss even shaper after 2 day in new league.

One characteristic of PoE is that it is extremely unfriendly to hybrid builds. I kind of wish the game made that clear from the get-go, because I too am a fan of hybrid builds and made similar mistakes my first year playing. That doesn't mean the game sucks; but you will need to accept that its affordances are poorly constructed if you wish to continue playing. This is a perennial problem which GGG still struggles, unsuccessfully imo, to fix.

It sucks to learn this the hard way, but at least you learned. If you want to continue playing the game, I advise you to build a new character, and choose a single skill to build around. Make sure every node you take either enhances that skill's damage, enhances your survivability, or is necessary to travel to nodes which do one of the above.

Keep your dps and life as close as possible in the early game when deciding which of the two to prioritize in the tree, and once your damage starts outclassing your life (it will get MUCH higher, eventually) focus exclusively on life and other defensive nodes. (Avoid armor if possible, unless the node also provides something else you need. Don't ask why; just trust me on this.) My rule of thumb is, if there is a set of life nodes within three nodes away, I should start reaching for them upon leveling up.

As for your existing character, don't delete it, just sit on it for the duration of this patch. You will get a free respec upon the next patch, and you can use that opportunity to rebuild it into something new and better.

Good luck, exile.
Wash your hands, Exile!
