Why no colorblind mode?

Copy-pasting this from a post I made on Reddit:

Heard a whole lot of good things about the game and decided to finally try it out. Played it for about 40 mins and then realized a lot of the game is revolving around skill gems, which for me (as a colorblind guy) are almost impossible to distinguish (I’m referring to the red/green ones).

I know, “who cares that PoE is not accessible to a few colorblind people?”, but still, it’s surprising that such a popular game doesn’t have this option. (Also, I've been reading that there are actually about 10% of males who are colorblind... so not actually very few).

Have any of the devs ever mentioned this is in development?

You could just do what all of us have done and memorize gem colors.

https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Active_skill_gem

In this table they are listed from left to right Red, Green, Blue. These are the active gems.

https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Support_Skill_Gems

In this table they are listed from left to right Red, Green, and Blue is the one at the bottom. These are the support gems.

This may seem like a shitty non-answer, but ask any veteran PoE player the color of any random gem and they'll probably be able to tell you off the top of their head. You may just have to work at it more than the rest of us until they implement a real system.

There's also the general rule of thumb that STR requirement = Red gem, DEX requirement = Green gem, INT requirement = Blue gem. Some gems have more than one stat requirement, but the higher of the two should be the color of the gem.

I hope I've been helpful. Cheers.

I'm pretty sure you can use Reshade with POE.

Reshade does have a "daltonize" shader , that is made for colourblindness.

I use this as a solution for a friend that has protanopia ( not just for PoE ) and for him it seems to work pretty good :)

Hope it helps while an ingame colourblind is implemented.

I was thinking about this the other day. If anything, PoE is even worse now if you are colorblind. Luckily, I am not but yeah, it sure would be a pain.

Yeah, I got the colors of gems memorized anyway, but still, aren't there are other issues?
Censored.
i dont need coöorblindmode myself,but giving sockets a form based on their color could work out very well.

i.e.

red = square
blue = circle
green = triangle
white = star
Right now the game is more showing you the finger if you're color blind, it even includes text like "Place into an item socket of the right colour ...", would it be too much to ask that it told us *which* color that is? For me, green and red is pretty much indistinguishable when the area is so small it is in this game, it's a crapshoot every time I pick up a gem to know if or where I can use it.
You know, colorblindness and baldness are passed on X chromosome, this is a gift women give to men, thank them.

Even if it's a joke to blame women for the X chromosome: Source please.

About topic: doesn't help with gear but you can create a lootfilter for the gems by giving them different border and background colors you might be able to distinguish between them (you named red and green so I assume you have no problem distinguishing blue and some other colors with them).
May 2018, still waiting for a colorblind mod
Started playing this game yesterday. Completely lost with no colourblind mode. Red and green are indistinguishable.
