Damage Scaling on Armour

Hi,

i'd like to suggest a way to scale attack or physical damage on armour.

Dreamfeather scales attack damage on evasion, for pure evasion builds.

Perseverance, vanguard belt, that scales attack damage based on armour or evasion for hybride builds.

I think it would be great to have something similar for pure armour build !

I'd propose for example a shield :

The Rock, Shagreen Tower Shield

Implicit : Shield charge permanently intimidate enemies

+300% to 400% armour

+60 to 80 maximum life

Adds 2 to 4 Physical Damage to Attacks per 500 Armour Rating

Use Both Weapons Slots

Also count as a one handed mace (so you cant scale it further with facebreaker)

It would be purely broken :

50k armour => 200 to 400 flat phsy damage.
If you double that ( it is possible ) ...



So either you are going to make something that only gets useful for extreme investment ( = half the value that you are proposing, or less actually ), or it will be completely broken.*



Now, if you would add something else, like "cannot inflict critical strike", or another drawback ( plus reducing the damage, by half would seem like a good value imho. ), it could become more of a balanced suggestion.
It still could be too strong, but it would seem already more inline with the rest imho.


It could be interesting, but flat damage will be really hard to balance I think.
SSF is not and will never be a standard for balance, it is not for people entitled to getting more without trading.

Number might be tweaked for sure.

What do you think about the idea of this shield ? A big two handed shield also used as a weapon ? :p

I think its cool ^^

And BTW, to talk about numbers, brutus scepter gives 2 to 4 fire damage per 10 strength, and you can wield 2 of them, so i guess the shield is not that broken compared to this. :p

It could be cool, definitely, I am just saying that flat physical damage scaling from armour is going to be too difficult to balance, if you want to reach a "satisfying" result, imho.
SSF is not and will never be a standard for balance, it is not for people entitled to getting more without trading.
