Alt-Tabbing issues PoE

Whenever I Alt-Tab, the game crashes completely.

Is this a problem that anyone else is experiencing?

Edit: It also crashes when I try to change it into windowed mode, currently the game is unplayable for me with this bug.

*Note I haven't played the game for a month or so, I'm not sure when this problem started.*

After some trouble-shooting as well as reinstalling DirectX I switched from DirectX 9 in the options to DirectX 9Ex. This seems to have solved the issue.

Sorry for the spam post, however others seem to be having the same issues after looking over reddit/googling for posts in the last 7 weeks. So perhaps this thread will help someone.

It's not just within the past 7 weeks; this has been going on since the games inception. POE has always been flaky when alt tabbing, particularly for AMD users. I am glad that switching to 9ex worked for you, but on a ton of systems, this won't work, just because of the quite varied systems out there.

For future reference, if you are going to look for tech help, pc specs are an absolute bare minimum must and a dxdiag dump doesn't hurt either. We can't really assist in any way, shape, or form without knowing what your rig is. Read the stickies at the top of the forum for next time, as they explain everything to put into a post so that people can actually help.

Not that i've ever noticed, but then if you google it, this "issue" is present many other games and seems to be due to windows and how it handles it google showing the division, overwatch and more

I used to have issues with POE crashing and alt tabbing ages ago. Part of it is windows, part of it is the AMD drivers (sometimes it gets better, sometimes it can get worse). This is also why I said f it and got 2 monitors...I got tired of crashing out in almost any game. It also has to do with certain cards. I used to run Crossfire 5570's and had tons of issues alt tabbing. Never had too much issue with the vid card I had before it. Some can handle it better than others. <shrug> It's one of those things that can crop up out of no where for whatever reason. There are ways to minimize the risk though without going to a dual monitor setup.
