PoE.xyz and AFK players

Hello everyone,
RIght now, there are plenty of items you can buy on poe.xyz. In the past, the option "Only show players who are online" was a good way to get your items fast, since you only message those who are really online. But these times are pretty much over. It feels like 80% of the people who get shown "online" are in reality just "afk" and since they use tools that allow them to stay online all the time, the "online only"-filter is pretty much useless. That makes it really hard to get your items and kinda destroys the purpose of poe.xyz. It still works for must-have items, since you just message the player in the forum and wait until he responds, but if you just want to buy a ring for the next 20 level ups, you want to have it now and not hours/days later. The game really should check if a person has moved at least once in the last 30 minutes and disconnect them if they didn't, it would really help! Other ideas are welcome too. Sometimes if I do guardians or shaper, and people msg me for a 1c or even 4c item, I won't bother responding, sorry.
If it's currency, I'll trade but only in bulk. If that is what you are complaining about - they might have similar reasons. If its items priced 10c and over, maybe they are really afk? My build guides:

Just offer 10 times the buyout maybe they respond.
Maybe there needs to be another status "available for trade". Need more brains, exile?

I have a great idea. When you /afk <message>, what if that message was readable on trade sites? That way you can notify potential buyers if you'll be back soon, how long you'll be afk, or if you're just alt-tabbed, etc. Might be useful, but I guess people could lie too.

The thing is... we are speaking about people not being afk but still not responding. At this point it is pretty much a guessing game. Usually those were summoners who didn't want to lose spectres, so they had to use tools to stay active.
Right now those are often people who don't want to miss the pms, but not sure why you have to avoid being afk for that you still get offers and for pricy things I usually wait a bit before buying anyway and pm those that are afk as well, since its worth saving a few bucks. However getting someone not responding when you want to buy some quick items they list for 1c I hate it. I would wish I could set a blacklist to ignore offers from those persons in the future. |
