Leveling vs Mapping
Which do you prefer?
I find leveling much more enjoyable. That feeling of starting from scratch, with nothing and building your way up. The content is more interesting and varied because mapping is repetitive. There's much more of a purpose when leveling. As opposed to mapping which is more min maxing. You have to think more while leveling... actually looking for useful loot on the ground and continually developing your character. When leveling, the content is much more balanced. You take hits and your life goes down... and drinking a life flask takes time to refill, its not instant. And the builds normally dont have insta life leech. There's also a lot less one shotting and one shot deaths. Oh man i could go on. Leveling is awesome. I always lol when i hear people say stuff like "the game doesnt begin until maps"... what game? The grind? Or when the complain that doing Acts 1 to 4 three times is sooooo repetitive... like, wtf? And running Atoll 100 times in a row is not repetitive? :p That's what i love about this game. Build diversity and the enjoyment of leveling up so many unique builds. EDIT: The other thing I love that I had to add in, is the challenge of trying to beat my fastest time while leveling to kill Atziri. It's always awesome when I start my timer when I wash up on the coast in Act 1 and race against my personal best times on my way to killing Atziri. This challenge is AWESOME fun... I sometimes wish there was a "ghost" mode so I could race against myself and see my other chars :) Dernière édition par brunowa#6253, le 24 févr. 2017 à 20:40:16 Dernier bump le 25 févr. 2017 à 04:41:11

The game only really starts after level 70.

I actually prefer both the process and the end result. Seeing a build evolve slowly across the game feels satisfying, and it feels even euphoric when the build does better than it was theorycrafted at the end.
There is also the case of enjoying the lores and environment from both leveling and mapping, so when 3.0 comes, it will be heavenly for me. Sometimes you can take the game out of the garage but you can't take the garage out of the game. - raics, 06.08.2016 Dernière édition par JohnNamikaze#6516, le 24 févr. 2017 à 17:37:20

Both?
The gradual rise in power and that end-game moment when all of your desired mechanics start to align up and produce results? Peace, -Boem- Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes

" The game actually starts at level 1. Really. That's a fact, like it or not. |

Leveling has the benefit of fast progression e.g. rapidly evolving char/regular gear upgrades but I am generally doing it with the aim of having a higher level character to min/max in high level content. Working as intended I guess.

I like both, but I probably like leveling more than most forum posters. I would love it if the leveling process were much slower, but that would probably enrage so many forum posters it wouldn't be worth it.

Most of the time I just buy 2x Abberath's Horn and Tabula Rasa. That's all my gear 'till 70lvl. I like cruel part. In normal most builds can do shit, in merciless Im like "OMG let me in maps already"

" Yeah nice for the first ten times but after that leveling is much more boring than mapping! German saying: Schönheit und Funktionalität in Sekundenschnelle zu ruinieren, ist dem wahren Dilettanten keine Herausforderung!
torturo: "Though, I'm really concerned, knowing by practice the capabilities of the balance team." top2000: "let me bend your rear for a moment exile" |

I would prefer to level by mapping. I don't like the linear/structured nature of the story, going from A to B to C, knowing exactly what's next and not being able to do anything about it. With maps you can do whatever one you feel like doing, and whatever difficulty you feel like taking on. The goal of just clearing the map is a lot less intrusive making it feel more like you are just doing your own thing rather than being forced to do something. I also don't like "end game" though, things slowing to a crawl, character progress coming to a near halt, it's just boring as frack to me.
