Wildstrike Conversion Question

I'm a bit confused about the damage conversion that's occurring with my wild strike - it doesn't seem to work according to the way the wiki describes: http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Damage_conversion

For the sake of simplicity, I'm limiting the example to 1 active and 1 support skill gem.

My understanding is:

- I wield a weapon that deals 100 physical damage.

- The following modifiers are applied from gear, attributes, support gems, and passives.

[Wild Strike] 60% of physical damage is converted to fire, cold, or lightning damage

- The following damage is dealt:

40 physical
60 cold/fire/lightning

-----------------------

- I wield a weapon that deals 100 physical damage.

- The following modifiers are applied from gear, attributes, support gems, and passives.

[Wild Strike] 60% of physical damage is converted to fire, cold, or lightning damage
[Physical to Lightning] 50% of physical damage is converted to lightning damage
[Physical to Lightning] gain 29% of physical damage as extra lightning damage

- There is more than 100% of physical damage conversion, so the values are scaled to total 100%. As a result, 60% of physical damage will be converted to cold, fire, or lightning Damage, and 40% will be converted lightning damage.

- Extra damage occurs at the same time as conversion (for each type, in turn) and is based on unconverted damage.

- The following damage is dealt:

40 + 29 lightning
60 cold/fire/lightning

This is not what is occurring. For some reason, there is still a substantial amount of physical damage remaining (in the tooltip). Is this simply a tooltip issue, or am I misunderstanding something.

Because it's randomized, the tooltip doesn't account for conversion. The tooltip is wrong. If you use Wild Strike + Physical to Lightning Support, you deal zero physical damage, regardless of what the tooltip says. You can test this with a weapon that applies Bleeding (zero damage Bleeding doesn't apply, so you'll never observe bleeding with full conversion).

Doh! You're right. This seems to just be a tooltip issue. Conversion is happening as expected.

I figured that the tooltip would show 60 "elemental" or other nomenclature.

Yeah, the tooltip isn't very helpful in many situations :P

Last we heard from the game developers, it's surprisingly difficult to fix tooltip/character sheet estimates,
