Screen goes black(solved)

I started playing poe yesterday after i stoped due to my old laptop having not the right hardware to play.
A week ago i bought a new Pc with sufficient hardware (gtx 960)...
Yesterday i installed poe again and started playing today. The first few hours were ok but then the screen went totally black. I could use other programms without problems, but poe only showed a black screen. The sound continued and i was able to cast f.e. split arrow and heared the hits.
i closed poe and tried again, but after some minutes i had the same problem again. I tried it severall times over the time of a few hours and the black screen came faster every time. Just now it happened after 1-2 min of gameplay.

I tried various setting (windowed, windowed fullscreen, fullscreen), higher or lower settings. The only thing that really had an influence was v-sync. When i tried playing with v-sync on i had the feeling that the game was "fighting against" getting black. It was black for 1/2 sec and then the game was flickering between correct colours and black, but after a few seconds it went black and stayed that way.

I used F1 to see my fps and they were good. When the screen went black the graphs disappeaed, too, but after i presse "p" 2 times (opened and closed passve skilltree) in the top left corner were the fps graphs. They weren't working correctly, but they moved.

My graphic-driver is new. I can play other games without problems.

Please help, I was really looking forward to play poe again and have no idea what goes wrong. google didn't help me at all...

This is almost certainly a cooling problem. Watch the temperature monitor with the video driver utility.

Get Nvidia Inspector, and set your Frame Rate Limiter to 60 or whatever your monitor's refresh rate is. This is basically what vsync does, but it allows for dips below 60 without syncing in halves to the refresh rate.

Since your problem still occurs after it's vsynced, you probably still have a heat problem which needs to physically be fixed. Whoever built your computer should test whether there's a broken fan, or whether the heatsink wasn't properly installed or came loose.

I doubt that it is a cooling problem. poe was working for some hours ongoing and suddenly it goes black after some minutes of gameplay. I had cooling problems with my old laptop and there they became apparent in dropping frame rates and short freezes. Here my screen just goes black without any fps problems beforehand. Also the time before the screen went black didn't change with vsync on or off.

As i said i don't have problems with other (admittedly less demanding) games.


I just tried playing again without vsync and i did small things in the background while poe was black and the pc was very responsive.
When i tabbed back in poe worked for ~30 sec before turning black again.

I contacted the support and they helped me to identify the issue. My nvidia gpu wasn't used.
