Ghost Reaver viable with only spells?

Curious if Ghost Reaver would give sufficient returns using spells or will they not pull enough life steal?

Ghost Reaver makes all life leech into energy shield leech.
It seems you are under the impression that it inherently adds leech. It does not. |

" It's no more or less viable than trying to leech with spells without Ghost Reaver. You just need to use a Life Leech support gem and deal enough damage per hit. |

I realize what Ghost Reaver does, the reason I ask this is because a life stealing gem is the only way to add life stealing to a spell and I wasn't sure if that would provide enough life stealing to make it very survivable. Physical attacks can get much higher percentages via passives and items and I was wondering if that was the only effective way to use Ghost Reaver.

The gem is more than enough for ANY skill. Physical Damage builds just don't need the gem, that's all.

" Most Physical builds [that don't run Blood Rage] still use the Gem, or at least the Life Gain on Hit Gem, since the tiny Leech from Accessories, if they even have it, is not enough. " If you're an ES caster Ghost Reaver with the LL gem works fine. You initial question didn't make sense, since you seemed to be implying that Ghost Reaver did something it doesn't. |

" Vaal Pact is needed for builds that do very high aoe damage like dischargers who risk killing themselves on reflect without instant heal. Most spellcasters are perfectly fine without it. |
