logging out while in a memory killed my animated guardian

I logged out while in the the memory that takes place in the Templar's Laboratory. When i logged back in, my animated guardian was dead. Even if the my guardian was left there for a minute, it would not have died, I was in a much lower zone and my guardian had over 10k hp.
Bug? or is this intentional for some reason?
