Bosses difficulty vs average exploration difficulty balance
" Very true. The frustration for newbies is lack of any single source of info. The wiki on Gamepedia only goes so far and GGG doesn't offer much in the way of help for mobs verses bosses. Of course the "learn by doing" philosophy of playing PoE is pretty much the motto of GGG, especially new recipes that GGG expects the player community to figure out on their own and deliberately wants it to be a challenge. For the hardcore PoE junkies that is all well and good but leaves many players out in the cold. The other side of the playing coin is that no one (very few at most) want all of PoE served to them on a silver platter (too easy is just as bad as too hard). Where you place the "goldilocks" zone between wimpy and uber-OP is always a personal preference and how much time you have available and how long of time span you see yourself playing PoE is a major individual factor. Thus many, many rants were posted when act 4 was released that it was unjustly too difficult in the boss fights compared to act 3 bosses. Since GGG is rebalancing everything for the 10 acts (5 x 2-ish) of PoE 3.0.0 we'll need to wait until after it drops to know how much of our posts has filtered up to the top devs and what their coding for "content challenges" is covering the huge range of players from very casual softcore to extreme uber hardcore. "You've got to grind, grind, grind at that grindstone..."

Ok, I'm not a newbie anymore. I have learned a lot and adjusted my currently top Trickster build using lots of orbs of regret many times in fact. Now I have chaos innoculated energy shield, frost/lightning/discharge build. lvl 87, 7500k+ ES. And I still think that most of what I wrote above is true.
Especially some SPELL CASTING bosses are overpowered. They spam with spells all over the area, so one can't manually avoid spell hits and deal some damage to the boss. Dodge is somehow unique - in my build I managed to achieve 25% spell dodge chance with (10% from quartz flask). Resistances at cap 75%. And still like 95% of my death causes are: - overpowered spell casting bosses - damage reflecting enemies Also spell casting bosses heavily deal elemental affixes. This is madness. Because of e.g. evasion and easy to avoid by moving the character, melee bosses are piece of cake. Spell casting on the other hand - nightmare. E.g. one crap rare boss from beyond called something like "The unrelenting frost". I mean, GGG, is this supposed to be some joke ? That thing is spamming spells all around. So one build has to be: perfectly freeze resistant + have 80%+ + element resists + have at least high dodging or spell blocking or energy shield leeching perhaps. " Haast, unrelenting frost. Offscreen him, and use high spell block/spell dodge, while using decoys (like skeletons). One humble advice for you: Frost Wall can be a beast against projectile spells :) I am Zeorymer_Of_The_Heavens

" Ok, that is some nice piece of advise. But here is another problem - you can't have everything in one build. In past I had lots of situations in which trying to fix one thing I made something other worse in the build :). But that is a topic for builds discussion. I may post about my no. 1 build with questions how to improve it. |

" No, everything is impossible, i agree :) Another advice (part of my future guide for beginners or casuals like me): high dodge/spell dodge + mind over matter + frost wall is a good way to do safetly mid tier maps :) So safely, that it almost resembles to play ES :) I am Zeorymer_Of_The_Heavens

Does Haast mostly do spell damage? I vaguely remember 'Enfeeble' being very strong vs Haast.

+1 I completely agree with this post the current design make ppl create glass cannons and this leads to this number of complains about one-shots

" I mentioned it because I got the impression that it would not have worked so well on spells. It is much better vs attacks (with Evasion). I was surprised at the time that 'Enfeeble' pretty much neutralized the threat that Haast posed. That was a few leagues ago though. No wonder it's lost, it's in the middle of the jungle!

It's worse if you actually accept bosses to be part of your defensive theorycrafting.
Anything except bosses and very few unlucky combinations stops be able to pose any threat to you. That makes 99% of the game a complete snorefest. :( Perception is reality.
